My Self-Summary
I'm half Puerto Rican half Irish, petite, curvy, and kinda a girly girl by appearance, but can def. switch it up and play sports and get messy.
Right now trying to balance work and fun... Not exactly sure what to expect from here, but hoping to meet new people, possible friends, maybe more?
Please, please, please, no sketchy messages. :( Not my thing.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working retail right now, but I'm looking forward to volunteering and possibly getting a position at a Health organization. I've had experience working at a free clinic and really enjoyed the work we did. Any suggestions?
I’m really good at
acting silly...I've been known to get tipsy and give out Salsa dance lessons :)
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
She's Come Undone, A Hope in the Unseen, Nurse, The Dirty Girls Social Club, Anatomy of Hope, Down These Mean Streets, Invisible Man, If He Hollers Let Him Go, My Sister's Keeper.......way too many to list here
Music:
John Legend, Ryan Leslie, Ne-Yo, Adele, Alicia Keys, Jazmine Sullivan, India Arie, Cassie, Beyonce, Robin Thicke, Lauryn Hill, Musiq Soulchild, Chrisette Michele, Common, Talib Kweli, Murs, Mos Def, Immortal Technique, Duffy, Wisin y Yandel, Calle 13, Marc Anthony y mas.
TV: Slight obsession with House.
Food:
Okay....so I'm kinda a fussy eater....no cheese, milk, fish, and rarely red meat.
But, I do love Anna's, cucumber and avocado sushi, nani's arroz y gandules con penil.
hmm and chocolate covered fruit (I used to work at a fancy chocolate shop, yummm)
The six things I could never do without
2. My cell phone--yea...I'm one of those. I feel lost, naked almost without it. It keeps me connected to my friends and family, reminds me when I have things to do...yea...it controls my day to day life.
3. Caffeine--Okay, so I probably sound bratty, but if you wake me up before noon on my day off, you better have a coffee in hand. Not always nice when I don't have my Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts (I don't discriminate...although lately $5 for coffee is ridiculous!)
4. Music--I honestly listen to everything, maybe not country (I do have Taylor Swift and Shania Twain).
5. Magazines, books--I love love love to read. Kinda nerdy, but it relaxes me. I wish I had less to read for school so that I could catch up on a whole list of authors I've been interested in discovering.
6. My car--its old and beat up but it's practically my home. I travel back and forth between Providence and Boston and so everything and anything is kept in my back seat. Its the first thing that I've ever been able to really consider mine, and I earned it...a little sentimental value behind my shitbox :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Who I am, and how I want others to perceive me. I'm not some naive 20 year old just now realizing how the world works...I've been independent since 14 and so I'm starting to make sense of how things/experiences/people have shaped my views and perceptions of myself and others. Strange how I got from point A to B, and its empowering to look forward to how I'll get to C.
