almost too many books to mention (ive got a great library) but some
off the top of my head---mutiny on the bounty, kidnapped (i like
everything by stevenson), a tale of two cities (i like dickens
too), watership down and the all creatures great and small series.
ive also enjoyed james fenimore cooper's the last of the mohicans,
the deerslayer and the pathfinder. dracula and frankenstein even.
am a big fan of sherlock holmes; ive read all the conan doyle stuff
and have been reading contemporary versions of holmes the past few
yrs. i particulary like the versions by larry millet and oddly
enough, laurie king. patrick mcmanus (an outdoor writer) makes me
laugh right out loud. lastly, and id love to elaborate, tom brown's
movies: glory, remember the titans, hair, the princess bride, monty
python and the holy grail, the lion the witch and the wardrobe. the
more i watch the last of the mohicans, the better it gets. i grew
up watching abbott and costello movies and still enjoy them. id be
remiss if i didnt mention that jean luc picard is one of my
favorite fictional characters.
I think survivor is riveting, and I enjoy American restoration,
counting cars, and if M*A*S*H is on, I will have it running in the
background. I loved everwood when it was on, and that, and the unit
never should have been cancelled. numb3rs was terrific and I have
enjoyed all the man vs wild and survivorman shows.
i pretty much like all music with the exception of rap. the past
few yrs has seen me identify strongly with celtic and other folk
music, particularly of the slow and peaceful kind (think wild
mountain thyme, shenendoah, and song for ireland). ive been all
over the uk but not to ireland; id like to go someday. I don't like
his politics, but I love springsteen's music. i absolutely love joe
cocker's version of the letter, the ecstasy of gold from the good,
the bad, and the ugly and billy idol's remake of mony mony and sooo
i dont play anything, though i have a wooden recorder id like to
im a vegetarian but outside of that, i'll try most anything and
like foods from all over. if i had to live on a desert island
though and could only eat a few things for the rest of my life, id
say, peanut butter toast and herbal tea (if that can count as one),
cold nectarines, pizza, pasta, hummus, chips and salsa, bbq potato
chips and either grape or tomato juice.
