My self-summary
Thought of the day (from several months ago): If this site doesn't work, well, then silicone-skinned love dolls are the future for me. To wit: http://youtu.be/e2d54NRdJno

Thought of the day, April 14, 2013: Oh, no. Getting closer to silicone territory.
What I’m doing with my life
Government employee by day, entertainer of four dogs and painter by night. Note to lesbians: one of my pooches hates cats. So you better think about that before proposing to me! I suppose there are workarounds though. There are workarounds to most things, I have found.

Very active in a local arts and entertainment district. Check out our signature event of the year, coming up May 11, 2013:

http://www.gatewayopenstudios.org/

Have also been active in dog rescue.
I’m really good at
Pole dancing for Jesus. OK, That's a lie. I actually have two left feet, as they say.

I'm good at writing. (That was a great sentence, huh?)
The first things people usually notice about me
Red hair. A little quiet at first. Dry sense of humor. Thoughtfulness. Good listening skills.

Stats: 5'5". 165 lbs. Out of shape in the cardiovascular sense, but was once able to hike Old Rag. Would like to do so again. I guess I'm not noticeably out of shape in the cardio sense though.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Listening to huck finn at librivox.org. reading deadwood by pete dexter. Things that stick out in my memory.... Films: chuck and buck. Grizzly Man. Harold and Maude. Christopher Guest films. Random documentaries. TV: BREAKING BAD. Deadwood. Parks and Recreation. Boardwalk Empire. Downton. (I don't have TV, so have to watch online.) Recent music: Adam Green and Binki Shapiro CD from 2012. General music : Wilco, Giant Sand, and other Indie Americana. Jazz, blues, stuff on WPFW. Bluegrass and old country. Rap crossed with country. Classical, esp. Russian Romantics, but want to get more into contemporary as well. In past year, saw Lambchop, Joe Jackson, The Make-Up in clubs, but I really don't like standing around in a club and staying up that late. Mary Oliver and Billy Collins. Go to a lot of local art openings and am active in local arts community. Went to Per Kirkeby at Phillips.

Anyway, you don't have to like everything I like. Why would that be necessary or desirable?

Tell me about yourself. What do you like?
The six things I could never do without
My dogs. Art (doing and seeing, experiencing). My journal. Good books. Wind in the trees before rain. Evergreens. Pinto beans. Crackers in soup. The serial comma. Staying grounded by staying in touch with friends. I'll tell you other stuff if I like you.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Painting ideas. Facebook status update ideas (noooo). My dogs. I have four (it was an accident, but #4 is one of the best dogs on the whole world so I had to keep him), so the thinking/doing for them gets multiplied.
On a typical Friday night I am
Recovering. But it's nice to go out sometimes, because then it feels as though the weekend lasts longer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
- I never brush or comb my hair--my hair looks puffy in a bad way if I brush it.
- I hate rye bread.
- Im willing to talk about a lot, but not in this online setting.
I’m looking for
  • Gay girls only
  • Ages 30–60
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You like to go to museums, galleries, readings, and music, too. Or at least to sit on the couch talking about how you like going to them. You are kind, thoughtful .... and you are a good listener, yet you'll share as well. You have an unusual way of looking at the world.
I'd like to do more hiking and camping too.

Please don't just say "hi" if you message me. Say a little something substantive.
