My self-summary Propose an edit

**Disclaimer: I've been SUPER lazy lately and have only been checking my messages but not replying to them. Apologies to anyone who's written to me in the past couple of months. I'll try harder...maybe.**

Some random stuff about me: I find satisfaction in planting things and watching them grow. I have a soft spot for puns and i share them often. A modern art museum or gallery could keep me entertained for hours. I love animals of all sizes--I still save earthworms from drowning after it rains. I have a signature dance move, I own about 35 pairs of shoes (I know, I'm sick. Deal with it.), I don't own a TV, I don't have a car (though I enjoy driving), I really appreciate people who can parallel park well, my name does not have an "H" in it, I wear dresses a lot, I mentally correct peoples grammar (even though mine isn't always perfect), I like my job, sometimes I daydream about having the magical power to give everyone who says "thank you" to the bus driver a $10 bill, I live with a roommate (who happens to be one of my best friends) in fabulous place near Hawthorne, I enjoy playing board games and croquet, optimism with a pinch of realism is my thang, I can't resist a man with a witty but zany sense of humor (Flight of the Conchords is a good example), I am attracted to people who are (at least mostly) happy with themselves and confident enough to laugh at their own follies. I like kindness ....and kittens. And ketchup.
Well, I'd say that's a pretty good start.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I'm currently working full time (in retail. If you truly hate consumerism we probably wouldn't work out.) and enjoying life. I am pretty self-sufficient and enjoy my daily routine. I also enjoy meeting new people who will broaden my horizons and perhaps teach me something, even if it's a random bit of trivia picked up through interesting conversation.

I would like to do more of the following: walk/bike around Portland, garden, cook (I need someone to motivate/teach me), listen to new music, go to concerts, meet new people, roller skate, write letters, hug people, drink water, see my mom. I would also like to learn how to boulder. Can you teach me while not making me feel like an uncoordinated fat-ass?

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Procrastinating (why do you think my profile is so long?), being nice to strangers and becoming temporary friends with them, buying thoughtful gifts for people, laughing, making people laugh, dancing like I just don't care who's watching, cooking frozen pizzas, etc.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

My glasses, my sarcastic but friendly nature, and my short/petite stature. In no particular order.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Here are some things I really like:

(A): The Perks of Being a Wallflower, anything by David Sedaris or Kurt Vonnegut, Catcher in the Rye, I Was Told There'd be Cake, and random memoirs by interesting people.

(B): Punch Drunk Love, Scent of a Woman, The Holiday (cheesy, I know. It's such a pick-me-up!), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Half Nelson, Running With Scissors, Amelie, The Royal Tenenbaums, Shop Girl, Office Space, Mostly Martha, Shower, The Cruise,...I like many different movies but I don't have a hard-core "favorites" list.

(C):My collection includes Ben Folds, Nick Drake, Broken Social Scene, The Mountain Goats, The Decemberists, The Go Team, Elvis Perkins, Cat Power, Grand National, Ray Lamontagne, Paulo Nutini, Clem Snide, Stan Getz, DeVotchKa, Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, M. Ward, Grandaddy, Ben Kweller, The Feelings, Pedro The Lion, Mirah, Outkast, Mozart, Jude, Billy Holiday, The Faint, Nikka Costa, John Mayer, Blind Pilot, Snow Patrol, Desaparecidos, David Gray, !!!, Hum, Marcy Playground, The Postal Service, Lost In Translation Soundtrack, Modest Mouse, The Weakerthans, Andrew Byrd, The Appleseed Cast, Devendra Banhart, Brand New, Paris Combo, Jason Mraz, Marvin Gaye, The Shins, Death Cab for Cutie, Viva Voce, The Concretes, Rilo Kiley, and many more. I really like classic rock but have never been formally introduced. I don't really listen to the radio so I might be kinda behind on what's popular now.

(D) cheese, anything with cheese on or in it, bread, fruit, and water. I'll try pretty much anything. I like a lot of "ethnic" foods--Thai, Greek, Lebanese, Japanese, etc. I also LOVE a good hamburger. I'm currently on the search for the best one in Portland. So far the top 3 are Blue Hour, Rocket, and Slo Bar. Any suggestions?

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

friends/family (they're one-in-the-same to me), sunlight, color, laughter, comfortable pants, public transportation (or a bike).

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

How beautiful life is, people in general, travel...

I also day-dream about random details. I think a lot on the bus. Sometimes I imagine the lives of people I see. And sometimes I talk to the old people who are alone and desperately want someone to talk to. It sounds kinda creepy--me talking to strange old people--but it makes me feel like I'm doing something right. I often feel most alive and connected while riding the bus.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

At my house hangin' out with my roomate/friends or sometimes out to dinner/drinks at a local joint. ...or working and then going to bed early. :(

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I'm ashamed of how much stuff I have.

You should message me if Propose an edit

you have an awesome sense of humor and you want to share it with me!

Fine Print: I don't often use the computer for long periods of time (partly 'cause I don't have one an' all). When I do use it I'm usually at work. Please don't be offended if I don't respond promptly. My delay is not meant as a personal insult. If I don't respond at all I probably forgot/overlooked your message. Or, I'm just not interested. Let's assume the best though.
P.S. I don't ever do the Quick Match thing.
