I'm a gypsy at heart. Well, not only at heart but largely in real life as well. I am a jumbled mess of different cultures, multiple languages and diametrically opposed choices in terms of education and profession. I feel at home (almost) everywhere and nowhere (guess that's the reason I fit in well in New York). I've had this weird feeling of sensing both a feeling of belonging and of being a guest in one and the same place ever since my first day at kindergarden. I could easily live in a tree as long as it is where the people I care for are.

There is a part of me that's looking for kindred spirits and like minded people with whom to make a connection. At the same time it is also looking for the unlike minded to be stimulated by and to learn new things from. More than anything it is looking for those who are curious and sincere and willing to be open and share what they think ...

and express what they feel and act on their instincts ...

and feed their hungers and quench their thirsts ...

and scratch their itches ...

and are into random acts of kindness ...

and into not judging a book by its cover ...

There is also a part of me that isn't looking because it busy doing the best it can at just living life ... at the moment quite a lot of it is taken up by being a filmmaker and helping storytellers tell their stories.

Figuring things out in a pinch.

Book wise 100 Years of Solitude and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance are two of my favourite books. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isaac Asimov and Douglas Adams are some of my favourite authors ... and if you are into the work of Hugo Pratt, Moebius, Milo Manara and Enki Bilal chances are we will have lots to talk about.

Film wise it's a long list and given that I help make them it's an even longer conversation but Mindwalk is a film that made a big impression on me, Love and Death to me is possibly the funniest film ever and The Stoning of Sharaya M should in my opinion be seen by everyone ... and so should Never Let Me Go.

Music wise Blues, Blue Grass, Cumbia, Zydeco, Flamenco to name a few ... mostly anything acoustic ... preferably with lots of percussion ... and multiple harmonies in the vocals

Blue Man Group, Fuerza Bruta and ANYTHING by Cirque Du Soleil

Food wise ... Uff ... I like (almost) everything. Except for lamb, intestins and anything bland. Overall I tend to skew more towards the "simple but well prepared" than to the "high end but have to go get a falafel after dinner because I'm still hungry". I am (very) fond of spicy food.

a good nap ... ideally in hammock ... but even not in one

holding hands ... and kissing ... either or both ... for hours on end
... and nutella (unless you're allergic to nuts)

life, the universe and everything ... and where I could have possible misplaced one of my two passports

... aren't you ? ... but otherwise catching up with that one thing that on that particular friday night desperately needed to be caught up with ... most probably to the detriment of a substantial amount of other things that also would have desperately needed to be caught up with but that on that particular friday night drew the short end of the stick ... But hopefully figuring out something interesting to do with you on the earliest next friday night ... or saturday afternoon ... or monday morning ... or thursday lunch ... or tuesday tea time ...

This being said I could also very well be taking a nap ...
