Working, Parenting, Chilling. Enjoying life. There are a lot of fun ways to relax when the work is done. I enjoy getting outside for bike rides, hiking, and beaches. Sometimes it is nice to get out of town and check out museums, restaurants and events in the city. Also recently rediscovered the joy of dancing, especially to live music. And yes, we should go dancing on our 3rd or 4th date....

Another pastime is hanging out in the coffee shops and then wandering the aisles of a bookstore looking for something good to read. There is never enough shelf space or time for all the great books, but that won't stop me from buying more. And journaling. Must write in the journal because it is spiritually grounding, plus I will finish that volume of poetry someday soon.

Living & loving it. Teaching, Writing, Researching, Reading, Biking, Cooking, Tasting, Listening, Learning, Contributing, Growing and Exploring, among other pursuits and interests.

Creating interest, excitement & engagement in traditionally "boring" subjects such as economics or civics. Catching spiders and releasing them into the wild backyard. Cooking lavish breakfasts on the weekends.

They think a big hollywood movie star just walked in the room. Um, I don't know, who is that dork?

I love great music, and am open to all genres. Will listen to any music that stirs the spirit, and dance to any music with a great beat. But my musical tastes have always been informed by less-commercial acts with a punk/alternative/independent edge. Too many bands & performers to list here, though lately it's been Jack White, U2, NOFX, John Hiatt, Los Lonely Boys, Incubus, Jack Johnson, Nina Simone, beastie boys, Michael Franti, Bob Marley, Dinosaur Jr, tribe called quest, Madeleine Peyroux, Emmy Lou Harris....

Not much of a TV person, but PBS is a favorite for cooking with Jaques Pepin & Julia Child, travel with Rick Steves, history with Ken Burns and documentaries with Independent Lens. Also, safe/sane cartoons for my son with the Wild Kratts, and Big Bird. Hooray for public broadcasting.
