Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I grew up in the midwest (North Dakota, don't cha know) and since
leaving for college I have been bouncing around the U.S. for school
and work. The travel bug is not restricted to the US, recent trips
have included Turkey and Croatia. The challenge associated with new
situations, locations, languages, is exciting. However, recently I
have been hoping to find a nice spot and stop tramping about so
I spend a lot of time reading, for work, for fun, online news,
cereal boxs, etc. I never learned to speed read so it takes a bunch
of my time but I'm pretty useful on a trivia team.
I'm up for almost anything outdoors, going mountain biking (North
Park is nice but Bavington is closer to where I live), road biking
(the Montour trail is great), and camping (mostly car camping now
and adventuring out from there). Getting outside and being active
help me decompress from work and make beer taste that much better.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Exploring Pittsburgh (relatively new transplant) and trying to
decide if I should buy a house and where. I am working as an
environmental consultant. We make sure that when a company wants to
build something, they don't break any environmental laws.
Planning my next adventure. Hopefully, I can save up about a months
vacation time and explore New Zealand.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Finding the best deal on anything. Then realizing that I spent
hours to save $4.36.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Update: Someone was kind enough to inform me that they noticed my
smile. What a nice thing for them to say.
People also notice that I will go to very great, and sometimes
embarrassing, lengths to make them laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Some current favorite authors are Christopher Moore, John
Steinbeck, and Neil Gaiman. As for non-fiction, I have been into
Micheal Pollan and Malcom Gladwell.
The Princess Bride, Drowning Mona, Star Trek (all), The Fifth
Element, Stranger Than Fiction
I unabashedly like romantic comedies if done well such as Chocolat,
Love Actually, and French Kiss. (Look at me, a sensitive/secure
Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, Archer, and Game of
Thrones (if you have a HBOgo password I can borrow, please, please
let me know).
The Black Keys, Beck, Blackstar
Thai (Nicky's), Brewpubs, Homemade Italian
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Hot showers on cold days
The Scientific Method
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time trying to think of ways to connect different
parks by only traveling through greenspace.
Is there a sporting event tonight? If yes how many? What route
should I take home depending on these answers.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The best out and about Friday night would be going for a bike ride
in the Fall with a group of friends in the early evening so that we
have to use lights by the end. After, heading to the Boathouse Cafe
in North Park and sitting on the patio around the fire pit, having
some beers and looking at the lake.
The best night in would be to make some Eggplant Parmesan and
cuddle up on the couch with a glass of wine and watch a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I was little, I had to wear special shoes to correct pigeon
toes. I don't remember but there are some pictures of me wearing
what looks like all-white bowling shoes.
