I am a Chivalrus Knight, wearing Dull, and Dented Armor.

My Self-Summary

Let's see. I lived in PA until I was 16, then moved to Idaho for 6 years. After graduating college, I spent 10 months in Nashville, then moved to Wyoming for 3 years. I moved to Denver in the fall of 2005, and I'm pretty happy with the change.

Other than moving around a lot, I'm defined by my senses of humor and loyalty. I love watching funny things on TV, especially Seinfeld reruns, The Simpsons, and Family Guy. I also love the NFL (go Eagles!), and some dramatic television like House, Lost and Fringe.

While attending the University of Idaho, I learned that I enjoy working with kids, and I put that passion to use after I graduated with dual BA degrees in English (Creative Writing) and Psychology (Child Therapy). I'm loyal to friends and family, and if you stick up for me, then I'll be by your side though thick and thin.

I like camping, but don't do it enough. Same with fishing, and I wouldn't turn down a trip to Seattle if someone offered it. My favorite holiday is Halloween, my favorite colors are blue, black and green, and my favorite candy is something made of chocolate.

And for those who are curious, my "other religion" is Taoism.

Finally, I'm scared of doing rehab on my knees again. Due to this fear, I have never attempted skiing or snowboarding; if you NEED someone to hit the slopes with you, I'm sorry, but it probably won't work out. (But I'm more than happy to chill in the lodge with a book while you fall down the mountain.)

What I’m doing with my life

I read, write, and draw. I deal with delinquent teenage girls for 8 hours a day. I'm back in school for a one-year license. I like tattoos but not piercings. I'm a brother, friend, teacher and role model in my everyday life, and would enjoy adding "lover" or "significant other" to that list, somewhere down the line.

Other time-consuming items are: going to the gym at 24 Hour Fitness, playing Scrabble online, writing shards of a few novels, occasionally drawing pictures, nerding out with the card game Magic: The Gathering.

I’m really good at

Seeming more intense and concentrated than I really am. Making people laugh with random jokes. Seeing the humor or good side in everything. (My place of work is on a hiring freeze, so instead of complaining about being understaffed, I'll be happy with the great parking space no matter how late I am to work!) I'm good at being a lot physically stronger than I look. Also, being smarter than I look. I'm excellent at knowing things that are utterly useless and bizarre.

The first things people usually notice about me

At work, people notice when I'm gone. I once called in sick and had four "get well soon" cards waiting on my desk. Since I smile a lot, people notice when I'm unhappy. The people who bother to get to know me, anyway.

I'm on the shorter side, my hair isn't long and luxurious, and I don't look like all the other underwear models out there. (Seriously, I only look like Naomi Campbell.)

Physically, I've been complimented on my legs, when I get to wear shorts around people outside of the gym. Too bad they're bleached white right now.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Literature: I love books of all genres, time periods, and authors. For leisure reading, I choose fantasy or horror stories. Sometimes I read poetry, philosophy, or psychology books while I'm at the gym. Right now, I'm also in class, so I read for that. Favorite authors include: Orson Scott Card, Chuck Philianak, George R. R. Martin, Benjamin Hoff, Robert Wrigley, Marta Mihalyi, Sharon Olds, John Keats, William Shakespeare, Herman Melville, Edgar Allan Poe, and Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Silver Screen: Horror, fantasy, action, comedy, "artsy" then drama. That's the order I tend to choose for a night out in a theater. I prefer to watch movies in theaters, it's a fun experience for me. Current favorites include "Iron Man" and "The Dark Knight." I'm pretty much allergic to chick-flicks, though I can suffer through about one a year. And yes, suffer is the right word.

Music: I used to write country song lyrics (and I used to live them, too). Now I'm mostly into modern rock. Favorite bands include: Nickleback, Three Doors Down, Hinder, Korn, Flyleaf, Stonesour, and Evanessence. Of course, there are many more which could be on the list, but I'm trying to offer up a general type of music. Lyrics are more meaningful to me than the music or beat.

Sustenance: I'm allergic to round beans, but I love Oriental food. I like American fare, too, and it's hard to be disappointed with steak and potatoes. I love seafood, and really like fish. Sushi is great with me. Spice is big, also.

The six things I could never do without

1. Hope.
2. Letters. (Particularly the letter B.)
3. The one random person who picks up then phone when no one else will.
4. Spicy food. (Black pepper, if nothing else is available.)
5. The ability to look at myself in the mirror every morning, and know that I did the best I could the day before.
6. Flying cars. Where would we be without them?

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Fruits and vegetables. And how I'd like them all to taste like chocolate or Doritos.

Lesson plans.

How best to rid the world of cows; I'm currently doing it one steak at a time.

How to spend my lottery winnings.

How to win the lottery.

The apparent fact that I have a different world-view than most people living in America, especially in regards to how words are interpreted.

Why other people seem to wishy-washy.

On a typical Friday night I am

Not working anymore! However I can let off the built-up pressure is my choice, which will range from (but not an exclusive list): playing Magic: The Gathering at a local tournament; out with friends to release the stress from work; a poetry reading at The Mercury Cafe; gaming with my roommate; reading, drawing or writing at home.

I'm pretty open, and I don't work on Saturdays anymore. Due to my school schedule, I sometimes have class at 8:30am on Saturday morning, so those weekends require me to be in bed on Friday night kinda early.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm becoming jaded against people in general.

The Arizona Cardinals are a better team than I thought they were.

You should message me if

You have things to talk about! I'm always looking for more Magic: The Gathering players, or maybe a group for Dungeons & Dragons]. I've started dating someone, so all of my romantic needs are filled.
