My self-summary
Multifaceted. Mold breaker. Caring companion.

There are so many descriptions that I could give. I love heading to the ballpark to enjoy an evening with friends; completing a challenging project; the exhilaration of a hard workout/run; relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine; kicking back with a night of online and/or board games; or simply enjoying the company of others over a great meal and conversation.

Throughout most of my life I was the person who exploded the stereotype. I was the kid from Chicago who grew up in Georgia. I was the football player who went to state in extemporaneous speech. I was the fraternity brother who worked with underprivileged youth in after school activities.

Throughout all of this, I’ve striven to be a good person: to know the thoughts and feelings of those around me (often picking up on things before they’re fully aware); to lend a word of encouragement and a helping hand when the world seems like a dark, perhaps lonely place; to hold myself to the highest standard; to have fun with whatever opportunities/obstacles present themselves.
What I’m doing with my life
While I’m currently building a career in human resources/finances with a rapidly growing e-commerce group by day, but I would like to imagine that “life” expands beyond the 9-5 scope.

I seek to understand – deeply – how this puzzle we call life all weaves together. How the nuances of one person’s actions can lead to dramatic events for another. How people interact with one another, the social structures that we create for ourselves, and our role in the larger cosmos. I think that there are small ripples that we each encounter that set us on particular tracks and I want to know how and why we react to them in manner that we do.
I’m really good at
Balance. When life throws you a steady stream of curve balls aimed to knock you to the floor, I’ve always had a knack for understanding and reacting to such events, incorporating them into a new plan and keeping on track with goals.

Perhaps just as importantly, I give a great back massage.
The first things people usually notice about me

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm just getting back into the flow of reading. For so long it had been about research, reports, etc, but now I'm able to take some time out and just read for enjoying.... and it's AMAZING!

I tend to fancy fantasy (though any well written piece can quickly spark my interest). The idea of jumping into a foreign and unfamiliar realm and just discovering new possibilities or approaches ensnares me. I've been working through the Wheel of Time series, but more recently I've enjoyed the Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, and Name of the Wind in my reading quest. When I'm not doing the fantasy thing, I've really been into Micheal Lewis's works Moneyball and currently finishing the Big Short.

My movie interests can also range pretty widely. I'm down for reality twisting movies like Inception; sometimes the simplicity of an action thriller can leave me breathless; I even enjoy the occasional romantic comedy (perhaps this should go into the most private thing that I'm willing to admit). The only genre that I haven't gotten into probably has to be honor films, but maybe I just haven't seen the right ones.

For TV, Dexter has really sparked an interest in me. It took a while to catch up, but now that I have all I can say is "A-Mazing!" Big Bang Theory and Weeds have also peaked my interest pretty regularly.
