At work, and I love my work, I get to spend my time inventing, leading research teams, teaching and trying to guess the future (plus all sorts of business-side things that are less fun to talk about). I'm a whiz at indulging my diversophile instincts. This year, I'm working on reinventing education. Last year it was smart personal assistant technology. Before that, next gen email. If you spend time with me, there's a risk I'll talk about all this.

At home, I am a parent to two amazing kids and caregiver for my wife. For a long while, when I wasn't at work, my focus was entirely on getting a good outcome to her extraordinary medical situation (long story there -- I'm happy to share details in person) and fighting off homefront collateral damage.

Now that the craziness is settling down, I'm looking outwards again. With my wife's encouragement, that includes dating. (Does that mean I'm polyamorous?) I'm still getting my head around that part. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to more sun, more music, more movement and more time spent connecting to great people.

My idea of fun ranges from world travel (the only really good use of money in my opinion) to trading stories, trying new food, talking about ideas, fixing things, making things, climbing simulated rock walls and trying activities that I don't plan to relate to my suburban neighbors and brilliant but straight-laced colleagues.

Hmm. Perhaps that I can usually put 2 and 2 together. Or at least narrow it down.
