My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
all the great sages agree: life, for the most part, is what we make of it.

Blessed are the cheese-makers, for they have given endless pleasure to untold millions down through the ages. (and it's true: all cheese is cheese; but some cheeses give more pleasure than others.)

Overheard on the 2 train (in the wee hours before the light):
"My daddy was a preacher man. And he worked the railroad. He knew how this country works. This country was built on hard work and treachery. But mostly treachery. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!"

"Once upon a time and a very good time it was there was a moocow coming down along the road and this moocow that was coming down along the road met a nicens little boy named baby tuckoo..."
Question: In the above passage, who is baby tuckoo?

a bit cynical about the world, but in relationships, a hopeless romantic... ]
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I study and teach history.
I've also done a lot of other very interesting things.
objectively speaking, I've probably done a lot more and a lot more interesting things than your average American male.
I won't deny it: I enjoy talking about myself and my experiences.
I've been very lucky.
in fact, if I were to kiss off tomorrow, I'd easily be able to say I've had a very full and rich life (to hell with your bucket lists!).
No small part of that richness (here's where I turn earnest) has been being lucky enough to have received from my parents a very precious and -I think- rare gift: which is the sense that life --being Alive-- is beautiful. and I guess it's this experience of life as something mysteriously and essentially Beautiful that gives rise to the impulse to somehow give life -in all the myriad and simple ways possible- to others.
that's it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
smooth landings

you're smarter than the average smart person*.

*by 'smart' I mean: the practical sense required to navigate well the exigencies of life in our modern world such that one is able to direct more of your focus and energy on living a truly good and rich life...
**it also means, maybe more fundamentally, the clarity of mind that allows one to distinguish between truth and bullshit.
