Books
My tastes in books generally run towards non fiction, although I
will read the occasional spy novel. I am a history buff among my
other interest so my general tastes are towards history and
biography. I really haven't read anything of significance in the
last few months.
Movies
General tastes are
Sci-Fi, action and comedy. My favorites
in each of those genres are "The Empire Strikes Back", "The Good
The Bad and The Ugly" and "Blazing Saddles".
I enjoy a good night out at the movies, I prefer to see a good
movie on a big screen with a crowd. I also enjoy finding old movies
I have never seen before or haven't seen in ages and watching them
as well.
I was on a Hammer horror kick earlier this year (mainly just to
catch up on things I had heard of but never seen), haven't been
watching a whole lot of old movies that last few months since its
nice out and baseball season.
Music
Music wise I am generally a rock fan, liking most forms. My
strongest tastes are for 60/70s classic rock and 90s alternative,
but there are quite a few current rock acts I think are pretty good
as well. Some examples of bands I really like are U2, The Beatles,
REM, The White Stripes, Pink Floyd. I have been on bit of
exploration of less well known acts from the late 60s and early 70s
the last few weeks (a journey started by Pandora for me)
I also like Blues, Classical and a big of Jazz. I can tolerate
country but I am not a huge fan. I don't like current pop and I
don't really like hip hop (although there is the odd old school rap
song I can enjoy).
I really enjoy going to live shows and try to get to at least a
half dozen concerts per year.
Food
I am a true meatatarian :) I love a good steak, a juicy burger or
some really good BBQ, but my tastes are also pretty varied and I
like to explore new cuisines. I am big fan of spicy food and love a
good spicy Indian or Mexican dish. I am not a fish person and can't
do sushi (but can usually find something that works if I good to a
seafood place with friends).
