My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are" - E.E. Cummings
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
A classically trained violist currently freelancing in NYC makes up a third career after stints in charitable fundraising and environmental advocacy. I am active in my local community garden, a weekly volunteer at God's Love We Deliver, run, bike, swim, practicing yoga and lately have toyed with completing a triathlon with a friend.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making people smile, making music, lending a hand, organizing, living simply, gardening, rearranging furniture, scrabble, procrastinating, drawing, listening and making connections with others.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
that I look younger than my years

here are some favorite authors:
David Mitchell, Margaret Atwood, Roberto Bolano, Carson McCullers, Tolstoy, Annie Proulx, Miguel Ruiz, Jonathan Franzen, Jeffrey Eugenides, Ian McEwan, Murakami, Tom Regan, my Dad's books

anything Star Trek, Wall-E, Countercorriente (Undertow), The Fifth Element, Moonstruck, I am Love, Kinsey, Ice Age, Elizabeth, Europa-Europa, Steel Magnolias, Traffic, Central Station, In America, Dead Man Walking, Beautiful Thing, Three Kings, American Beauty, Maria Full of Grace, Finding Nemo, Muriel's Wedding, Departure, A Separation, Talk to Her, Priest, The Color Purple, Romeo & Juliet, Boys On the Side, Fargo, Maurice, Transamerica, Moulin Rouge, Little Miss Sunshine, Einayim Pkuhot (Eyes Wide Open), Boys Don't Cry, Earthlings, The Matrix, Frozen River, Billy Elliot...(ok, I'll stop)

as for TV, don't watch too much but have been catching up on anything scifi online, ie recently a BSG addiction, Arrow and of course, Downton Abbey.

a wide range of "classical" from Monteverdi, Dufay and Gesualdo to Vivaldi, Bach and Corelli. Don't forget Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert...OMG or Tchaikovsky, Prokofieff, Elgar, Bruckner, Sibelius, Debussy, Mahler, Barber, and Glass... to name a few. And new music, wow - what a landscape. Music is universal and I often find that what begins as aversion, say some new composer or groove, mysteriously turns into the latest love affair.

plant based power! compassionate cuisine of all kinds
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
adaptability over absolutes within reason but if I must, I'd prefer not to live without at least a few of these...honesty, peanut butter, compassion, vibrato, trust, recycling, love
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- how to live a principled life
- how to respond to the crazy things my second grader beginner violin class comes up with
- whether I should completely rearrange my living room (again)
- coming back to my breath
- how to persuasively, articulately, and compassionately respond to questions on why I'm vegan
- where my Dad is
- transporter technology
- hot Dads in my neighborhood (seriously ridiculous)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
if not rehearsing or performing somewhere in NYC, catching a movie or chilling with friends over a bowl of hummus, or geeking out with [insert scifi series] marathons online
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
vulnerability is both a beautiful and terrifying prospect
