My self-summary
I’m fun-loving. Down to earth. Easy going and easy to talk with. I’m quick-witted and self-confident. I’m serious when I need to be but I like to be playfully silly too. I’m active. I’m physically fit. I’m a nerd. And I’m a hippy.

Now, I’m a university professor. I used to be print journalist. I used to be a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer and I lived in a cinder-block hut at the edge of the rainforest in Belize. I used to be a journalism teacher in Singapore. I’ve backpack-trekked through Asia, Central America and Mexico. (My backpack is ready for more.)

My age-number is misleading. I’m far, far younger in spirit and mind. I stay that way by hanging out with lots of 20-somethings during my work week. (My students.) I’m raising a 12-year-old too. He’s my son, my one and only.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m using it to live it to the fullest. I live in the moment. I try to truly see it, feel it, experience it ... live it.
I’m really good at
I’m good at lots of things. I’m not so good at others. You’ll find out which is which if we take the great voyage of interpersonal discovery together. :-)
The first things people usually notice about me
Wow. I’ve never asked them. Perhaps you’d be willing to enlighten me on this.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food: I tend to like it all. (I didn't like the yak-milk cheese in Nepal, though.) Music: I appreciate it all, although I tend to listen to rock, classic and new. Books: I read a lot of academic journals. (Uggg.) I just finished reading Steven Hawkings’ “The Grand Design.” I like re-reading the classics, too, like Hemingway, Poe, Homer ...
The six things I could never do without
Hah! I’ve never thought about it. One can live without a lot of things that once seemed vital. I learned that serving in the Peace Corps.

Still, I’d not wish to be without my son.

I’d not wish to lose my mind; to be without my intellect, reason, rationality, sense of humor and all.

I’d prefer to be in the company of a wonderful woman.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about lots of things. And sometimes I’m just still ... letting my mind wander to wherever it will.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typically, I’m interacting with my son. He’s with me half the week. Saturday nights are my nights free. All day Sundays too. (But I could arrange for a Friday night free.)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Good try ... But I don't know you well enough yet for that. ;-)
