The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a pretty distinct fashion sense. And I've taken to bright lipstick lately.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love a lot of classic kid's/young adult books: From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, most books by Roald Dahl (especially The Witches), His Dark Materials, Little Women, I Capture the Castle, Alice in Wonderland, etc. Other than that...The Handmaid's Tale, Fingersmith, Let the Great World Spin, most things by Lynda Barry, The God of Small Things, Shakespeare, Angela Carter, Keats, Baudelaire, Off the Map (if you have read this and love it, I WANT TO KNOW YOU). Other than THAT, mostly contemporary fiction with a few classics mixed in. I tend to enjoy character-study pieces and good old fashioned stories as opposed to hyper-literary prize winners. Oh, and Harry Potter. OF COURSE.

Movies: I'm pretty game for anything. (Except for horror. Not a fan. My imagination's too active.) Off the top of my head: Little Miss Sunshine, Ira & Abby, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, Little Women, An Education, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Gone With the Wind, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Breakfast Club, etc. ad infinitum. There's no way I could possibly list everything here.

TV: Parks and Rec, Downton Abbey, Community, Arrested Development, United States of Tara, Freaks and Geeks, Party Down, and reality shows a la Top Chef and Project Runway.

Music: (Pretty much) anything live and anything that's got heart.
A short, short list: Rilo Kiley, Elliott Smith, Anya Marina, Gossip, Billy Bragg, Bob Dylan, CCR, Queen, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Florence + The Machine, The Swell Season, Grace Potter + the Nocturnals, Hope Sandoval & Mazzy Star, Nina Simone, The Kinks, The Beatles, Leadbelly, Nirvana, Talking Heads, Classics a la Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, etc.
Note: I'm a sucker for people who make me playlists.

Food: I'm a pescatarian. Anything simple and well-made has my vote. And blueberry pie. Always blueberry pie. I'm trying to eat as natural/organic as my budget will allow.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The night sky and/or the ocean. (The stars and the sea always put things in perspective, don't they?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. I wish I could turn my brain off sometimes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
probably not doing anything Friday night-ish, especially lately. I'm not a huge fan of crowds; I'd always rather go out on an off-night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but I think the Muppets are kind of creepy.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you are openminded and kind and a good person.

For the record, I don't respond to messages that just say "hey," or "what's up?" Also--and this is a public service announcement-- everyone can tell if you just copy and paste the same message to every person you're interested in. Make it personal, guys and gals. It only takes a second.
