I wish I could see New York in the 80's. I mean, I remember coming here in the 80's but it was all too fast to digest. Now I just hear stories and its depressing that the city has become so clean.
Now that I've gotten that random tidbit off my chest...
A Philadelphia transplant in Brooklyn for the past 9 years, I consider myself unique, outspoken, and an independent thinker, except when around really convincing people. While family brought me to this city, its the folks I have met and maintained connections with, that keep me here, year after year. While I'm incredibly laid back (I seem to surround myself with Alphas), I also possess the ability to become extremely particular and unwavering (I will never get into an unmade bed and salad never touches the rest of the meal). I suppose its the virgo in me. I have my own business because I was tired of getting up while it was still dark out. Much more of a night owl. Im busy (thankfully) and take it seriously, but am always able to find that balance. Im very close with my family (one of six, so I have no problem waiting for my chance to speak) and while I love them all dearly, I breathe easy at night knowing most of the are about 100 miles away.

Taking something that some might consider boring and creating beauty out of it. Translation- I'm a photographer and while I have artistic integrity, I also have a desire to eat and pay my mortgage. So while my most lucrative subject matter might be less exciting than say, my artistic street photos, I feel like at least I'm contributing to what some call "porn for adults"-- not real porn...think architectural digest.

Listening...and giving advice. I can see both sides of a situation even if I can't necessarily agree with the other. In a parallel universe, I may have made a good lawyer.

Books: I loved "The five people you meet in heaven" but I am a sucker for anything David Sedaris.
Movies: I still love Swingers, Lock, stock, and two smokin barrels and most recently, 7 psychopaths was infinitely entertaining.
Music: I love reggae under all circumstances. Pretty open to most things but it can be weather related. Winter calls for acoustic remakes and chill house mixes..
Food: Love sushi and comfort food.
TV- Game of Thrones, SVU, two and a half men before Charlie Sheen went nuts, most things HGTV, Girls to name a few

Having a glass of wine after yoga, decompressing. Friday is my down time...or at least, I try really hard to keep it that way. When you run your own business, its hard to shut off the computer and say "there is nothing happening that cant wait until tomorrow." Its consistently my aim to do this on Friday.

My Philly accent comes out when I've had too much to drink....and I'm a nail biter, but if you meet me, you will be able to ascertain that by looking at my hands.
