I am ingenious, humble, and unique.

My Self-Summary

I'm fairly easy going. I prefer complete honesty to anything else. I don't like yelling. I'm kind of lazy at times. I hate doing laundry. I don't mind doing dishes though I usually fail to empty the clean dishes from the dishwasher.

I'm currently seeing someone and am not looking for other romance.

I think many of OK Cupid's questions are flawed. Here's an example of one I just took: "Do you believe you have the right to forbid your significant other anything?" The only options where yes and no. I chose no because I believe that a couple isn't an authoritative structure. I believe in terms of their relationship it is a diplomatic structure where things are agreed upon (or agreed to be disagreed upon). The correct option should be "No, because to not discuss and agree as a couple shows a lack of respect for each others independance."

Or another one that I took and is important to me. "What would dissapoint you the most in your partner? Apathy, Immorality, Racism, Pessimism" Quite frankly, I would rather have none of those. Immorality and Racism are straight bad, Apathy depresses me, and I can only handle so much pessimism (I am a lot of times as well, though I've gotten better!) until it also depresses me.

Although a few questions later I screwed up and said "yes" to "Do you think men should be head of the household." I'm so used to that concept from my parents that I answered out of habit more than anything, because honestly I've never had a relationship where either person demanded authority.

The rest of my profile really speaks for itself, I think.

What I’m doing with my life

I quit my job. It wasn't the worst job on the planet, I actually liked the work. For whatever reason it just felt like that job was draining the will to live out of my very being. Also, they used me like a cheap prostitute for far too long and wouldn't pay me what I deserved. Shortly after I quit, they got flooded with 4 feet of water. While I wouldn't have wished it upon them, I feel it needless to say "Karma is a bitch."

I now work for one of my friend's family businesses doing pretty much everything the business does. I don't know what's with me, but every job I go to I end up wearing every hat in the company.

Recently I've been DMing a 4th Edition game. We need more regular players. Pocket Protector types need not apply. We are extremely casual. We're there to have fun first, and play the game second. Also we often get distracted by Rock Band. Also, we want to start an actual Rock Band. We have a drummer and a bassist and a guy who's decent with synthesizers but not a trained musician like the rest of us.

I’m really good at

...being decent at most things I try to do.

I'm proficient at many things. I learn extremely fast. But as far as being really good or excellent at any one thing, I don't think I am.

I am far above average in the world of technology, especially data communications, PC hardware and architecture, and efficiency analysis. I'm also far above average in the world of music performance, composition, and generation.

I however am nowhere near what I would consider "really good" at either of those things. Also, my standards are extremely high when it comes to my work, I always compare myself to the leaders in that particular industry and how I can strive to come closer to their excellence yet differentiate myself and drive my own niche. That's a lot of demand on myself!

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably that I fail at knowing what any kind of current fashion is. If that bothered me, I would probably do something about it.

Also, if that didn't scare you off, you'll find shortly after that I take all the fun out of everything by over analyzing it.

Then if that doesn't scare you off, well, I'm not sure what happens at that point, at least in relation to this question.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(books) I really don't read much. I never have. I usually read technical stuff all day long ever since I was little, so I guess that takes the fun out of reading for pleasure. I did enjoy the Harry Potter series, JK Rohwling did a fabulous job with those. I also enjoyed the only John Grisham book I read about the cancer kid and brand new lawyer that they made in to a move with Matt Damon (?) and Danny DeVito.

(movies) I enjoy watching movies. I will usually watch anything once. I do not prefer horror movies what so ever, but give me a good reason and I'll even watch those. Back to the Future series will always be classic. You cannot watch Spaceballs too many times. Mr. Brooks was really well done. The Die Hard series is just awesome. Intellectual movies as well as documentaries usually intrigue me as well. For some reason, A Goofy Movie has always been a favorite of mine as well. Possibly because Max is an under-appreciated geek with only 2 friends that scores the popular hot chick. Or maybe because when it came out I thought the music was fun. Who knows!

(music) Was my entire life for many years. I listen to mostly classical and jazz, as well as Q101, but "popular" music since the 90s has gone down hill in my opinion. I don't care for R&B, Hip Hop, techno, or rap, but there are always exceptions to be found. Lately, in part thanks to Rock Band, my love for older rock has been rekindled. Also, you should search youtube for "Plastica" it is hilarious (it's by a guy named hampsterdunce, he does pretty awesome keyboard work).

(food) I don't like seafood as it usually tastes too fishy or like a nasty seawater brine. I'm picky with my fruits and vegetables. Bananas make me gag. I am very much a meat eater. I will try most things once. I like to explore many different foods, I just often don't know how to go about doing so.

The six things I could never do without

In no particular order:
1) Someone to love and be loved by
2) Knowledge
3) Curiosity
4) All things Computer
5) All things Music
6) Ability to provide for myself (and others in the future)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life in general, random topics of thought, computer related things, songs I'm writing. I'm rather jumpy, I can sit on one subject for long periods of time, but generally don't unless prompted to.

On a typical Friday night I am

Occasionally I'm lucky and friends aren't at work or are visiting their hometown or some such and we can go out and have fun. Besides that it's just like any other night, usually at home watching movies from Netflix, playing games, or trying to finish up a last bit of work (why are there always more last bits of work?).

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have an inability to be unlawful except in relation to the speed limit and no u-turn signs. This is probably a good thing, but it certainly is annoying at times.

I have a hard time standing up to adversity in relationships. If you don't ask me about it (and I do try to make it obvious, usually) I am unlikely to talk about it for fear of making things worse. I can usually write my thoughts down and deliver them that way in a much more effective manner, as my brain to mouth functions tend to cease working in such situations, or at the very least malfunction to the point where my issues are entirely lost in translation.

You should message me if

You want to know more, aren't flighty, and require openness and communication in any relationship romantic or not. I'd also be interested in hearing about opportunities to get back in to music. I've been so busy with my work, it'd be nice to get back and play some jazz trombone, or work on my drumming skills, or even play Euphonium in a brass quintet! I know a bass player who'd be all over it too. I also dabble in drums fairly proficiently and thanks to the occasional rock band session, I get to try and keep up with my limb interdependence.
