I am open minded, plucky, and tomboy-ish.

My Self-Summary

To sum me up in the easiest way possible: I’m Ally, a liberal country gal with high ambitions that loves life and is often viewed as ‘one of the guys’.
~Originally from a small town in Northern Kentucky..
~Moved to Louisville three years ago for school.. Planning on staying a while..
~I am and always will be a country girl who misses living in the middle of nowhere.. After all, ya can't hunt, fish and truly enjoy the outdoors in the middle of the city..
~I don’t believe in regrets, so I make the most of each day as it comes..
~I have some of the most amazing people in my life that mean everything to me..
~My family is odd, so I fit right in. My friends are crazy, so I have people to join me in the asylum one day..
~I am the kind of person that gets very close to the people in her life and doesn’t believe in shallow relationships of any sort.
~I am a tomboy. Nearly all my friends are guys and life is much easier that way. Girls are usually full of drama and stupid bullshit that wastes everyone’s time..
~As much as I enjoy wearing t-shirts and jeans, from time to time I thoroughly enjoy having a reason to get all dolled up..
~I love watching sports with the guys, especially football and MMA. My teams include any Louisville teams for college sports and Cincinnati teams for pro. I proudly yell Who dey!..
~The only sport I participate in is Wheelchair Rodeo, and remain undefeated..
~I love stand up comedy (watching it), especially one of my favorite comedians who everyone should show some love to: Snabbit888..
~I am very proud of the person I am slowly becoming and will not change who I am for anyone..
~When people judge me I go out of my way to prove them wrong (which is why I have the career goals I do)..
~I have two beautiful nieces and two wonderful pseudo-nephews.. All four of them are my world..
~I have a dimple in my right heel.
~I love tattoos. I only have one right now, but am getting my second as soon as I can..
~Similarly, I have a great appreciation and respect for body modifications of nearly every variety. I am about to witness my first body suspension and I couldn't be more excited.
~I have no respect for people who do not respect the musical greatness of Johnny Cash (not saying you have to love his music, but at least respect him as an artist)..
~Mixing German and Spanish into random conversations is a hobby of mine..
~I love sitting in little hole-in-the-wall coffee shops shootin' the shit and playing trivial persuit..
~I eat chicken noodle soup with a fork and a straw..
~I am honored to be left-handed..
~I have mastered Grade 1 Braille and am slowly working on Grade 2.. I have perfect vision, but I am learning in honor of a dear friend of mine..
~As a kid, my ultimate goal in life was for my dad and I to compete in the show Junkyard Wars. Oh, how I miss that show.

What I’m doing with my life

My ultimate goal is simply to make a difference. As of now, the plan is to graduate from the University of Louisville in May with a BS in Political Science and continue on to Law School at Brandeis next fall. I may put Law School off for a year and continue with my undergrad to get a BA in Philosophy.
What I know for sure: One way or another, at some point in my life I WILL go to Law School. I plan on being an attorney and advocate for individuals with disabilities, especially children.

I’m really good at

Making people feel awkward.. it can be a lot of fun.. Easily achievable with distasteful cripple humor.. Also, telling inappropriate stories at oddly appropriate times is something I have became rather close to mastering.
On a more serious note, I am easy to talk to. I think that's why guys love to have me as a friend. They always come to me for that girl's perspective on everything. And I wouldn't have it any other way!
Also, I am really good at getting little kids to quit crying. Not so much babies, but with toddlers its easy. A simple ride on the back of Blue Thundah makes any ouchie seem obsolete. And if that doesn't work, I let them drive.

The first things people usually notice about me

Why, yes, I am in a wheelchair.. Thank you for asking.. But don't think my disability defines me (though it often affects the way society views me).. The only difference between us is that I get to use elevators everywhere I go and get to jump to the front of the lines at amusement parks.. So, sucks to be you!
(FYI, I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy when I was about three.. I've been in the chair since I was eight.. It has contributed to making me who I am today, but in no way defines me. Please don't let it define the way you view me. It's your loss if you do, because I'm very proud of who I am, disability and all.)
Aside from all that, people may notice my mischievous "how nice!" smirk. If you don't know what that is, I'm sure you'll find out eventually.

Editors

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) I love Dr. Seuss.. One goal in my life is to memorize all of his books.. I love PostSecret books and the idea behind them is amazing.. Other than that, I like the classics, as well as anything the next generation may consider a classic.. Anything philosophical that will make me think and reconsider some common misconceptions on living life.. The Four Agreements is the closest you'll find me to any religious belief at this point..

B) COMEDIES! I love laughing.. I absolutely HATE chick flicks: they're so fake.. Some drama, thriller and suspense movies can be good, as well as any combination of the three.. My top ten (in no particular order): Forrest Gump, Stand By Me, Fight Club, Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary, The Goonies, Walk the Line, Shawshank Redemption, Little Miss Sunshine, and Happy Gilmore. Honorable mentions: Big, The Breakfast Club, The Ringer, It, and The Terminal.. Also worth mentioning: I love movies of the pre-code era. Its amazing to see the evolution i film making during that time. I'm a pretty big Mary Pickford fan.

C) A little bit of everything.. Seriously.. I like anything from Johnny Cash to Bouncing Souls ('You're So Rad' is on the list of my life's theme songs) to Pearl Jam to Aerosmith to Reba McIntyre to Jimi Hendrix to Sage Francis to Brian McKnight to Shinedown to.. okay, I'm bored with this... See? A little bit of everything..

D) I'd be a vegetarian if it weren't for the fact that my body can't physically handle it.. I have a lot of respect for people who can do it, I'm just not one of them.. I'm a steak and taters kinda gal.. I love simple foods.. hot dogs and hamburgers.. chili and tater soup.. I don't like complicated food with a bunch of different tastes put together.. My absolute favorite foods are Cincinnati Chilli, goetta, and O'Charleys potato soup.. I'll taste anything once as long as there is less than a 50% chance that it'll kill me.

The six things I could never do without

Family and friends (they're pretty much one in the same), Blue Thundah (the chair), The Beast (my sexy 15 passenger van), Gold Star Chilli, something to make me laugh, and hope

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I can do to make the most of each day.. And then I realize that sitting around thinking about it doesn't achieve the initial intention so then I sit thinking about how to get back those moments lost in space..

On a typical Friday night I am

On any given weekend you can most likely find me in one of three cities/areas (in order by likelihood):
1. Louisville- wandering around town with my friends or random people, loading down The Beast for some random adventure..
2. Cincinnati/NKY- spending time with my dandy family or some friends from back in the day. I can usually be found around a bonfire, at the Bingo hall (for $5 pitchers, you would be too), or at a variety of restaurants and bars.
3. Columbus, Indiana- my pseudo-family are about to move there so my pseudo-bro can fulfill Army orders at Camp Atterbury. If I'm up there I'll be spending my time playing with two adorable little boys, one of which is my 5-year-old boyfriend.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

When it comes to my friends, I am extremely dedicated and will do absolutely anything for them. I have mostly male friends so there is a wide range of things they require help with.. Anything from advice about their lady friends to making some soup for them when they're sick.. With that being said, I can never fully trust someone until we've heard each other fart which is probably why I get along so well with guys.. I have my reasons for this being so.. Feel free to ask..

You should message me if

You're bored.. I love to talk to people of all sorts.. As long as you don't think less of me because I happen to use a wheelchair, then we'll probably get along.. As far as anything else, I love someone with a sense of humor.. Laughing is one of my favorite things to do, so if you can make me do that you'll be on my good list..

And no old pervs, please..

(Oh, and don't think you're being original by sending me a message saying "so does that mean young pervs are okay?".. it has been done..)
