My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm American who usually lives and works overseas. I was teaching various business courses at a university in China in a city near Shanghai, but am back in Columbus indefinitely to explore my muse. I've spent 13 years of my life living outside the U.S., having worked in 8 countries and visited 13 more. I would like to meet and enjoy the company of a woman with a passion for life and the energy to make it happen.

I'm quite the nomad so I can't offer you the traditional forms of stability or security - but if you would like to meet and have fun (NOT a euphemism for sex), that would be quite welcome. I can offer you polite company, intelligent conversation, and a desire to get out and enjoy various cultural events.

One of my favorite indulgences is going dancing. Yes, at 53 I still love to go clubbing and shake my booty. So I stay in pretty good shape.
I like indoor fun as well as outdoor fun - who doesn't like beaches and mountains? I enjoy all the simple things and some of the expensive things in life. However, when it comes to owning stuff, I'm the ultra-minimalist. I adore art museums, theater, and dance. I love the ballet.
I'm not much for live music but I'm sure I would be more tolerable with the right person - especially if I can dance.

I spend alot of my life trying to better understand the big wide world and what makes it go, taking information from many sources to create a wholistic picture. Curiosity is one of my major motivating factors since you learn new things about the world as well as new things about yourself. Its one of the big reasons I started working in other countries.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to be the best me I can be. For me, being normal is a failure of potential, one should at least try to have an extraordinary life.
As with everyone, I'm working and living somewhere on planet Earth - right now however taking some time off to write.
Of course, always seeking Truth and Enlightenment. On a more mundane level, exercising frequently (big fan of Antrim Park) and trying to be creative.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm good at looking at complex and abstract phenomena and recognizing patterns. I learn things very quickly.
I've been told I'm a fairly good dancer, lots of practice.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Perhaps my energy and my personality. If you saw me on the dance floor, you would never guess my age.
Those are recent pictures of me. I am 53 but I have most of my hair and it is not gray (I do not color it). No one guesses I'm over 50 (at least that's what they tell me).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I read mags like The Economist and Scientific American, some books on philosophy, science, politics, law for fun maybe a Sci-fi novel. Sci-fi films and TV mostly since they sometimes stretch your imagination.
I like to stay current with what music I listen to, almost all the songs currently in my playlist are from the past year. I gravitate towards music you can dance to though.
I eat a wide variety of foods and am not a fan of strict dietary limits such as a vegetarian. We humans are omnivores after all.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Computer, Broadband, Hot showers, Meat, Dancing, New experiences - not in any particular order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The complexities of basic human interaction, the true nature of existence and the future.
How to reveal my characters through dialogue and not have it seem too formulaic.
When I will again be lucky enough to squeeze a woman's hand and have her squeeze back and to look into a woman's eyes and know she wants a kiss.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I try to hang around people my own age but this age group likes to sit, drink, and (at best) talk in a bar/pub - they are not very active once the sun sets and are never up past midnight. Plus most guys are not culturally inclined so I have little company for galleries or performances. When clubbing, I usually go out by myself. How many people in their 50s do you know that stay up drinking and dancing?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I still love to dance ballet when no one can see me.
