My self-summary
The most important thing about me: i was born and raised in San Jose, California. being from California is a huge part of who i am, since it seems like Californians have a whole different value set and way of life compared to those out here in Kansas. As much as i miss my family and friends back in Cali, moving to Kansas has been one of the best experiences of my life. I've lived here since 2004, and in that time, I've made some amazing friends and learned a ton about myself. I would say that who I am now is totally different from the person that first moved here.

The second most important thing about me: I am a liberal to the core. I believe that all people deserve my respect, and the same rights from the government regardless of gender, race, or (and especially) sexual orientation. Just because people are different doesn't mean they aren't human. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that "all men are created equal" (it was in a pretty famous document, maybe you've heard of it?), and I truly believe that. Just because a couple happens to be made up of two men or two women does not give anyone the right to deny them anything. Also, I'd appreciate the government not telling me what I can and can't do with my body, but that might be an argument for another day...

I am introverted, introspective, and inquisitive
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from Kansas State University in May of 2009 with degrees in Wildlife Biology and English Literature. I work at Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, Kansas as the Education Curator. My husband, Justin, and I were married in June of 2010.
I’m really good at
...communication: writing is my strength (anything from papers to poetry), but my oral communication skills aren't too shabby (i was a radio dj for two years in high school, and gave all sorts of speeches, including my high school graduation speech) ...working with animals: working in a zoo's education department gives me the unique opportunity to work with lots of different animals on a daily basis...my current favorite is the madagascar hissing cockroach... ...school: one of my strengths has always been in academics, which, come to think of it, is why i was invited to join phi beta kappa, the nations oldest and most prestigious academic honor society. last semester i was awarded one of the biology' department's most promising student awards, and i currently have the highest gpa of 112 wildlife biology majors ...martial arts: i started tang soo do, a korean martial art, when i was 4 and received my black belt when i was 12...i'm a bit out of practice now, since i haven't found a school in kansas that teaches it, but it's something i love
The first things people usually notice about me
since i haven't met myself, this is tough to answer, but i would say: ...i'm really shy around people i don't know, but that can be misleading, since i tend to open up fairly quickly... ...i'm not afraid to speak my mind if i believe strongly in something

You should message me if
...you have an open mind and aren't afraid of someone with views that may be radically different from yours...above anything else in any relationship (friendship included), i value open-mindedness...i'm sick and tired of all the people i meet in kansas that are afraid to look at the "liberal" side of the coin... ...and if you're a dodger fan, stay away...far, far away
