My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Out of the country for a couple weeks.

I’m pretty intellectual, bordering on nerdy (okay, probably more than just bordering), and love learning about science, math, economics, and pretty much anything. As one of the questions here put it, “I’m an information sponge.” I also have a large interest in current events: I read way too many online news articles (i'm pretty addicted to reddit.com), and like discussing them. I’ve been involved in a few campaigns, volunteer efforts, and union organizing.

I was (amongst other things) a music major in undergrad, and I play (about from best to worst) piano, bass guitar, accordion, organ, guitar, drums, and mandolin, and mess around on various other things. I’ve also sung in a bunch of different choirs, and organized/directed a few myself. I also like analyzing music and writing and arranging songs, and love going to concerts and shows, both popular and classical.

I’m also one of the rare breed of Liberal Christians – my religion is more important to things like helping the poor, showing love to all members of society, and protecting the natural world, not stupidly discriminating against fellow members of society or denying the truths of science. I hope you don’t judge me for that, as I won’t judge you – if only all Christians lived by that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm in a PhD program. It'd like to think I still have a life, though. I'll let you be the judge.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
All sorts of things music-related, like playing piano, arranging, and singing in choirs. Also, applying math, physics, and economics to everyday life, and staying up much later than is either normal or sane (I'm working on this). I used to be pretty good at swing dancing (mostly lindy hop), but I haven't been dancing in a while - I should get on that. I also have an unnatural talent for standardized tests, although that doesn't come in useful very often.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tall, blonde, and pretty lanky (duh). But beyond that, that I'm at least a little nerdy, musical, and ... awesome?

But I'm particularly interested if you play an instrument (voice counts) or enjoy intellectual discussions of things you wouldn't usually have an intellectual discussion about.
