My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've recently met a wonderful woman, and had largely quit the site, but they've enticed me to try out some new features. Sorry ladies, I'm off the market.

I do a lot of technology geeky things. Mostly this means I play with computers and other mysterious box type things with lots of wires.

I prefer quieter type activities. I read, I play some golf, that sort of thing. I would describe myself as shy, but I guess it depends on what I'm doing and who's with me.

I was born in Michigan, my family moved here when I was an early teen. It still seems funny to use the word "soda".

These okcupid adjectives drive me crazy. My friend told me "you're smart, write down intelligent", yet okcupid thinks intelligent is too boring. Maybe. I know I don't glow in the dark. The whole thing is very confusing.

I feel the need to know things. I'll look up something on Wikipedia and read the whole article, and the articles it links too, and then I find it's 1 am in the morning and I really need to get to bed so I have a chance at being awake for work in the morning.

I like to help people, it gets me out of the house. Somehow I have more energy to help someone else fix something around the house than to fix the same broken stuff at my own house.

I am hilarious, bright, and kind
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I rollerblade, and do some other outside stuff. With luck George RR Martin will finish his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series before I'm too old to read.

Once a year I do the MIT Mystery Hunt. It's a lot of puzzles and not very much sleep.

Besides that I try and get out of the house and occasionally go hiking. In the winter I do volleyball in Saratoga.

This summer I went on a cruise with my friends. I went swimming with stingrays, when everyone else was too chicken. Stingrays didn't try and stab me even once! They feel a little slimy.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm good at fixing computer and technology type things. I'm a decent writer, though for the most part I haven't done anything except work type writing for quite a while.

I'm also pretty good at mowing the lawn. Yes, defiantly. My lawn is very well mowed.

I'm a good singer, though only in the car and the shower; never anyplace around other people. They'd probably hear me and dissuade me of my belief in my own talents.

I'm very good at remembering to feed the cats. Though the cats stand on me at night until I wake up and feed them. Perhaps they have to take some of the credit for that one.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably that I'm thin. Someone told me once I have nice hair.

I don't know, what did you notice? Message me and let me know.
Of course that's a huge cop out, but what are you going to do?

I was told once I tend to be quiet, then bust out with something outrageous.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I like books by George RR Martin, Robert Jordan (though his books could be shorter) and other sci-fi type books. Raymond E Feist was my favorite for a while, though I sort of lost interest after the original characters weren't the focus of the story. Actually my bookshelf is overflowing, with sci-fi and fantasy books, I need a new one. There are a couple Tom Clancy and Steven King books in there too.

I like comedies and I guess your guy type stuff-blown-up movie... The Usual Suspects, Braveheart, Star Wars, The Jerk. Oh yea, and Kung Fu Hussle is great.

I'm a big fan of mexican food, too bad I can count the nearby Mexican places on one hand.

Anyone remember pop-up videos on VH-1? I also like the behind the scenes extras on just about any DVD.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Food and sunlight. I guess that makes me sound like a plant. Though I'm less green and I move more. But at lunch today bees kept landing on me, so maybe it's a wash.

The Internet, it's a never ending source of (mostly useless) information. Want to know the lyrics to the Humpty Dance, the proper timing for a '47 Buick, debunk a chain letter from your boss?? BAM!! The Internet delivers.

Cheesecake is good too.

I like having a car. One that runs well. I'm not a big fan of being stranded places.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The book I'm going to write about my wacky family. Seriously, let me tell you about my aunt with the 2 parrots and the purple hair.

Bob Hope - "You know you are getting old when the candles cost more than the cake."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably not doing too much. Sometimes I'm laying half-awake in front of the TV, or reading, or more likely wasting time on the Internet.

I'm not a fan of clubs or bars. Places where you can actually have a conversation are much better. I just don't care much for going places alone. Think up something to do, chances are pretty good I'm happy to show up.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have cats, two of them, and they have the most unimaginative names you can er, imagine.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you get irritated when people mix up their, there and they're... Yea, that bugs me too.

If you stalk me more than twice, then I think somehow you're obligated to send a message. It's OK, I won't bite, promise.

Scott Adams, the Dilbert guy, once said "Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems." Best to keep that in mind before messaging me :)
