I am geeky, imaginative, and eccentric.

My Self-Summary

I picked 'busyGeek' as a handle because I think it says a lot about me. Yes, I'm geeky... so okcupid's a good site for me then!

I work in new media, I'm a bit of a techie... oh, okay! You forced it out of me. You could also say I work in marketing. Not the old fashioned style of marketing but the new way of doing things with Google, Yahoo, affiliate deals, homepage take overs and that sort of thing.

I'm certainly a geek. I like to watch anime, sci-fi and fantasy films. I'm not so good with hardware (printers are my enemy) but I trained as a programmer and could probably still pull something together in PHP. That said; give me a computer language book, enough time and I could probably write the program you need.

I'm not busy with IT stuff, though. I'm busier on the marketing side of my life; meeting clients, putting together strategies and flying down to London an awful lot for conference speeches and other mini-dramas.

It's perhaps crazy to come here and say that I'm super busy and a bit of a geek - but honesty is important to me. I'm happy with my working life and don't want to change!

I like to get out once and a while. Since I pay for an expensive gym I sometimes (a few times a month) drag myself out to visit it - my wii fit tells me I should go more often. I've found dancing around to Guitar Hero on my xbox 360 is a fairly good workout too!

I like to visit friends - and even spend a weekend away once a month to engage in some marathon roleplaying sessions!

I think I may go mad if I had to spend two weeks on a beach! Sun is nice. A great holiday would certainly involve some pool/beach time but also a chance to soak up some local history and culture.

Happy to chat about me more in more details in messages! lol (how arrogant does that sound?)

What I’m doing with my life

I'm building my life right now. Today and tomorrow I'll be working hard and doing something that I enjoy greatly - I get paid to do a hobby!

I'm working hard now so I can be (remain) happy. I don't need a lot of money to be happy but I need some. I would like to be able to buy what I want - which isn't too luxurious - without having to worry. I'd like to be able to be generous to my friends too.

I'd love to find a partner to work with and build a better life with.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hat? That only works if I'm wearing it.

I imagine you really need to ask someone else this questions. I suspect a lot depends on my mood. I'll probably appear to be a bit eccentric but I could equally appear to be a chatterbox or a bit quiet.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music. A copy'n'paste of my top 25 from Last.fm makes this list:

Kamelot, Led Zeppelin, Celtic Woman, Cirque du Soleil, Blackmore's Night, Foo Fighters, Genesis, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Aerosmith, Faith No More, Talking Heads, Gorillaz, Soundgarden, Levellers, Crash Test Dummies, Kaiser Chiefs, Guns N' Roses, Billy Joel, Alice Cooper, Tyler Bates, Feeder, Violent Femmes, Dead Can Dance, Megadeth and Metallica.

Movies. A quick raid on my Facebook profile suggests:

Big Trouble in Little China, Tremors, Sin City, Fight Club, Lord of the Rings aka LotR, Predator, Last Action Hero, The Golden Child, Iron Man, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Rear Window.

Food. Hmmm:

Pizza, pasta, curry, burgers, cheese and spicy sauces. I'm sane when it comes to my spice. I like it hot - but not the macho hot that too many Indian restaurants have succumb to serving.

The six things I could never do without

1) The net
2) Escapism via games; RPGs or computer
3) Music
4) Loyality
5) Intelligent conversation
6) A little bit of personal space now and then!

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I love thinking. I'm a fan of anyone with real lateral thinking abilities.

I'll think a lot about the internet and where it's going - from a geeky point of view but also from the marketing strategies point of view too!

I'll think about which movies are worth going to see and what the director was trying to say in any given movie. I think a way you can spot a good movie is by how much people talk about it and debate it!

I like to think on how I can help too. Small things. Would it be better for the environment if I did this rather than that. Would it be more healthy if I did that rather than this. This is a good section on okcupid because it asks what I think about rather than what I always manage to do!
