My passion in life is design. Finding the balance between beauty and function is the drive behind my work.
On a similar note, I love problem solving. If you give me an interesting problem, like something that needs to be fixed, I will study and dissect and modify until it is fixed. Or until we need to call an ambulance. One of the two.
Not surprisingly, I'm a very visual person. Language is completely foreign to me. I understand concepts much better through diagrams than text. As a result, my favorite books are filled with graphic explanations of how things work. Architectural books and books on furniture design are pretty clear favorites. Sure, I've read a handful of the classics, but it just doesn't grab me the same way.
In my social groups, you might say I'm the jester. I was the one who demonstrated "planking" when one of the crew asked what it was (in the middle of the state fair). I try to keep things a bit lively, and not too predictable... you gotta keep people on their toes...
As a side note, after undergrad I spent a year in Europe, and it really made me realize how little adventure there was in my life before that point. Now I make a point to collect stories as often as I can. Mostly that entails getting off my butt and going on a roadtrip, meeting random people, or even just going to local events. I feel antisocial doing these things on my own, and really appreciate that my friends keep me active. I just need good excuses to get out of the house/studio more often.
