I'm a student nurse studying mental health nursing and have just finished my first year (as of Aug 2012). I also work as a mental health support worker so that I can eat and pay bills. I have a degree in politics and international relations but realised it wasn't for me - mainly as I like to think I have a soul. I wanted to do something that made a difference and helped people which is how I got into mental health nursing which I love and couldn't think of anything else I'd like to do.

I'm also rather creative and enjoy writing and acting, and often make short films with my friends (most of whom studied film), and a cartoon strip I wrote was almost selected by the i newspaper. I'm also very family orientated and hope one day to live the dream of settling down with a family of my own. My other interests include History (almost any period but especially more modern history), looking round museums and old churches, reading and watching well made television and cinema.

Well as I said I'm studying to be a nurse and am living in NHS accommodation in Dorchester. If I'm not working then I'm either down the pub with friends (am more of a pub than club person), at the cinema, watching DVDs or reading, I do love my books.

I've been told I have a scarily good memory for facts, useless trivia and dates, as such I am frequently hounded by pub quiz teams. Judging from my marks I'm very good at nursing and have been told I'm a very good listener, people often come to me with their problems. I would like to think I am a loyal friend and would do anything for those I love. I would say I'm quite good at impressions but that would put a bit too much pressure on me to do really good ones, so let's just say I'm okay at them.

It seems to be either my height (I'm 6ft 1 and slim), my hair which a lot of people seem jealous of for some reason, or my piercing eyes. That and my sense of humour, I am often told I am 'the funny one' and people seem to like my bitter, biting, sarcastic wit.

Favourite books - Catch 22, 1984, A Clockwork Orange, How the Dead Live by Will Self, The Sorrows of Young Werter and Faust (both by Goethe), Frankenstein, The History Man by Malcolm Bradbury, Billy Liar by Keith Waterhouse, horrible histories and anything by Roald Dahl, the man was a genius.

Movies - Casablanca, Amelie, A Clockwork Orange, Mesrine parts 1 and 2, the Motorcycle Diaries, The Bicycle Thieves, Shaun of the Dead, Blazing Saddles, the 3 amigos, the Blues Brothers, Dawn of the Dead (original), Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Dr Strangelove, the Graduate, Shampoo, the Nightmare Before Christmas, Amadeus, Once.

Food - I'm not a great lover of vegetables but I enjoy most food. Especially Italian, Thai, Japanese, Turkish, Chinese and Indian.
