My self-summary
I am a marine ecologist, scientist, mathematician, hacker, music lover, and all around--I have to say--a pretty good guy.

Although, disappointingly, despite the whole marine biologist thing I do not swim with dolphins or talk to whales. Sorry to crush your dreams people...

Otherwise I'm a nice guy. Witty, laid-back, interesting daring considerate etc. .

I moved to DC from California. Still adjusting 5 years later. But DC is growing on me. Some things I really like here: the Big Bear Cafe, Yoga District, Rock Creek Park, paddleboarding on the Potomac, Dangerously Delicious pies, good live music, random holes in the wall.

I like music, food, travel, yoga, the ocean, meditation, movies, game nights, gelato, museumstheater, people-watching. I am social and get my energy from being around people.

Looking to meet curious people who don't take themselves too seriously. Thoughtful, impulsive goofy and appreciative of the beauty in the absurdity of life. Right mix of humor, depth, brains, chemistry, etc.... feel like everyone says this. "Must love to laugh" Who hates laughing? It's more about what you laugh at...and whether you can laugh at yourself.
What I’m doing with my life
I do science for marine conservation and management. Deep sea corals, kelp forests, and sea slugs are some of my favorite things.

Lest that sound unrealistically interesting... essentially I spend most days practicing some form of statistical martial Chandler on Friends (what do you do again? I've told you a thousand times...statistical data analysis and reconfiguration!) :-)
I’m really good at
verbal repartee, humor, sarcasm, cooking when inspired, creme brulee, travel, cunnilingus, marine ecology, statistics, machine learning, and identifying the nudibranchs of the north pacific.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes (blue), hair (curly), beard, and my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
TV--Arrested Development, Brooklyn99, House of Cards (old and new), Parks and Recreation, Portlandia, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Daily Show

Music--this was written 7 years ago but thought it would be instructive: Neutral Milk Hotel, Ben Gibbard, Bon Iver, Built to Spill, The Blow, Paul Baribeau, The Antlers, Postal Service, Jenny Lewis, Ratatat, The Flaming Lips

Movies--The Life Aquatic, Moulin Rouge, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Big Lebowski, Bottle Rocket, Donnie Darko, Raising Arizona, Better Off Dead, High Fidelity, Juno, Spinal Tap, Best in Show, the future Arrested Development movie!!!
The six things I could never do without
music, friends, silence, laughter, liquor, the ocean and space
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the complexity of human emotion, fluid dynamics and other complex systems that produce beauty, the ocean and its denizens, and, honestly. sex.
On a typical Friday night I am
in search of meaning; failing that, a good time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i don't know what's best for me.
You should message me if
You are genuine and looking to connect.
