My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
PA native, grad student, dog lover/owner, whiskey drinker, Netflix binger. Didn't mean for those last few to rhyme but not upset that they do.

Bit tired of playing the online dating game of figuring out what people want to hear, so instead here goes. This is a dating site and yes, I hope to find someone special. I am a friendly, caring guy, who loves his career, friends, and dog, and I make a great boyfriend. But I also don't think being in a couple should be boring. Not necessarily ready to slow down, stop going out or anything, but think it would be great to have someone to do all those things with. But hey, also not putting too much pressure on it. Let's get together, if there aren't sparks I'm still up for making friends!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying new things, exploring DC, surviving grad school. Wanted to be a musician at one point in my life, now I just boss them around. Unless they're unionized, then the boss me around. Dammit.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Assembling IKEA furniture. Streaming NPR and TEDTalks, singing, cooking. Driving stick.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My uninhibited masculinity? Nope, probably eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Love to cook, but somehow I have a distaste for what others absolutely love (tomatoes, avocados, etc.) but at least am willing to admit that I am wrong about these and you are all right. Be grateful...I'm not going to take the good ones at the grocery store!

In grad school and writing a thesis so, let's be honest, that comprises 126% of my reading. Would love recommendations but honestly won't get to them until roughly 2036.

Music: Arctic Monkeys, Frank Sinatra, Pentatonix, Trombone Shorty, Billy Joel, Gin Wigmore, etc. Classical music too. I studied music in college, so it happens.

Shows: The West Wing, House of Cards, Sherlock, Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother, open to suggestions...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My karaoke song. Recently it's been "Only the Good Die Young". Everyone loves Billy Joel.

How someone can possibly not support use of the Oxford Comma! (I will fight you on this)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably starts with cooking dinner, then either out around 14th & U or having a low-key night of grilling and beer on my patio with friends and/or my dog. Occasionally out doing something cultured too like seeing a concert or play, then going to a bar. Not the biggest partier out there but still like the occasional night of drinking, karaoke, trivia, dancing, whatever.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In high school I used to go see Rocky Horror Picture Show every year with friends...and dressed up for it. There are pictures somewhere and someday they will come back to haunt me.

Also that my celebrity crush is Olivia Newton John from Grease. Now that I think about it, I'm not embarrassed about that at all.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're witty, like debating and sarcasm, and enjoy learning and good conversation. And if you have some sass. Nothing wrong with some fun teasing. Or if I've visited your profile a lot. Visiting profiles is sort of my way of flirting...meaning I haven't really moved past the 4yr old level of flirting by pushing a girl over in the sandbox.
