My self-summary
So recently re-read my profile and decided I sounded really boring. Grad student, cooking enthusiast, musician, dog lover, West Wing watcher, travel addict, sarcasm expert. Yeah, that's a bit better.

Given the finances I would love to get into so many more things. I've been rock climbing a couple times and love it, have taken ballroom dancing classes and would really like to take more, or at least go out and use the ones I've had! The occasional extreme sport could be fun too, like skydiving or bungee jumping. Makes me sound more exciting than my day-to-day grad student life really is :P

I'm interested in finding a girl that feels as at home in a concert hall as in a cafe. Someone who would love to go out partying and dancing on a Friday and curl up at home with a movie on a Saturday. Is interested in banter and sarcasm but also having deep, philosophical conversations over a cup of coffee. Wine at a classy dinner but also a glass of whiskey or, what the hell, tequila shots on the dance floor! Let's be honest, doesn't pretty much everyone say this though?

I also don't want to take this too seriously. We're all on a dating website, we have to be able to make fun of ourselves at least a little bit. Sure it would be great if I could meet someone to get serious with on here, but if we go out and know that's not going to happen it's totally cool. Making friends out of this would be just as good!
What I’m doing with my life
Current grad student at American University in Arts Management, which is basically non-profit management focusing on arts organizations. Studied music in undergrad but eventually decided it wouldn't exactly guarantee a steady income so obviously moved to something more feasible, like managing those artists! (example of previously-stated sarcasm)

Will be working at Wolf Trap this summer as a producer; every thing from classical operas to classic rock to Ke$ha. Internally debating how long I need to work there until I ask how many free tickets I can get for friends. Should be fun though!
I’m really good at
I really enjoy cooking and think I'm pretty decent at it. No chef but whatever. Very musical and love a good karaoke night!
The first things people usually notice about me
The way I dress. Pretty uncommon for me to be out and about in a t-shirt and never in sweats. In fact I don't think I've ever even owned more than one pair of sweatpants, hmm...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Regular GQ reader. Usually enjoy intellectual action books such as those by Dean Koontz and Michael Crichton. Just got around to reading Into Thin Air (Jon Krakauer) and immediately started reading it again. Trying to bone up on the classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Inferno, Candide, etc. Also really enjoy a good non-fiction book, though my 700-page management book for this semester with an 18-page table of contents just plain blows.

Love lots of different types of movies from comedy to horror, though typically nothing with lots of gore. Usually into dramas but really into pretty much anything. Primal Fear, Ocean's 11, Casablanca, anything in between.

Just like with books, I prefer intellectual shows. Really into Sherlock, love The West Wing, and the occasional documentary, but also love How I Met Your Mother.

Enjoy a huge variety of music! Classic rock, hip-hop, acoustic, classical, jazz, and much more. Not a big fan of country or rap but I can tolerate it.
The six things I could never do without
Music, food, a dog in my life, coffee, a pen, intellectual stimulation of some sort.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, anything from a casual bar to chat and hang out to a dance club. Been trying to perfect a pizza from scratch so that's also a common Friday night activity. Nearly there!

Equally likely to be doing any number of things. Love going out to concerts/plays/whatever anywhere from the Kennedy Center to 9:30 Club to any divey, back-alley bar, but also enjoy just hanging out with friends at a chill restaurant or also just relaxing at home with some wine and a movie. Pretty much up for anything!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Though I've done a lot of traveling, I have not yet found Carmen Sandiego. I consider this a personal failure.
