I am creative, obscure, and intrepid.

My Self-Summary

Some things I like, in no particular order:
Words, festivals, cheese, beaches, dancing, travelling, pubs, food, football, fancy dress, giraffes, parties, elephants, mountains.

I am daydreamy, vague and disorganised. I'm also open, honest, and curious. I'll fit in everywhere and nowhere, and quite enjoy the feeling of detached involvement that gives me. I try to walk a line between being involved enough in the world and it's people to appreciate its chaos, dirt and beauty, and in being separate enough to understand it. And yeah, I know how arrogant that sounds.

I'm a Londoner by birth, Brightonian by choice. Left my boring commuter lifestyle and public sector job a year ago and went travelling through SE Asia and India, and now back home and a student. It's all working out pretty well right now.

My weekends are generally a mix between partying, slothfullness and trying to get to see AFC Wimbledon (I've got a season ticket which I don't really use as much as I should). The first two things tend to interfere with the latter though, unfortunately.
I don't get to clubs and gigs as much as I'd really like to, or used to, and would also love to get to more theatre and comedy. Still, the pub's always a welcoming fallback. In summer, festivals and Brighton beach.

What I’m doing with my life

Studying for an MA in creative writing. I had a proper job for years, and believe me this is so much better. And maybe one day I'll even get paid for writing something.

I’m really good at

Hopefully writing, given the above.
Weekends.
Falling over and pretending it didn't happen.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair. It's sort of giraffe colour.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - loads, most of which I can't remember, but for example, anything by - JG Ballard, Jayne Anne Phillips, Iain Banks, Iain Sinclair, Roddy Doyle, Irvine Welsh....also various poetry, history, travel....

Movies - Um, I have to confess, I rarely watch them. Not becasue I don't like them, but it just doesn't ever seem to happen.

Music - some of most genres - reggae, blues, rock, punk, electro, indie, house, techno, dnb, breaks.........but most of all, bassy dance music and punky guitar music.

Food - most of it. Will try anything, including guinea pig. Thai, Indian and Italian would probably top my world cuisines list.

The six things I could never do without

Music
Books
Writing
Cheese
My computer
People to care about

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What it might be like to float in space, things to write about, post-apocalyptic worlds, what a primordial soup looks like, places I want to travel to, the next Wimbledon fixture, the political future, whether to have beer or cider, how minds work and don't work.

On a typical Friday night I am

I think the whole point of Fridays is to be untypical. A few likely options though, are in a pub, at a party, in a club, on the sofa.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Hahaha! Not likely.

You should message me if

You have something to say to me, whatever that is.
