I am outgoing, easygoing, and going.

My Self-Summary

I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.
In fact I like neither of those things but I do enjoy all sorts of things such as reading, writing, going to the cinema, travelling, horse riding, cooking, knitting, and many many other things. I'm a friendly, happy kind of person who enjoys meeting people. That's probably as well because I teach English as a foreign language so I meet new people all the time.

What I’m doing with my life

As I mentioned above, I teaching at the moment but I want to go back to college. I'm not sure whether I want to do a H.Dip in foreign language teaching or a PhD in classical Philosophy

I’m really good at

not boasting.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I have a lot of piercings, or that they can hear me laugh from three rooms away.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: All of Jane Austen, all of the Bronte sisters (I consider myself pretty tough but I always cry at the end of Jane Eyre), Herodotus, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Dracula, Wicked, The Princess Bride (I was terribly surprised to find it was a book, absolutely amazing!), Gabriel Garcia Marquez, particularly one hundred years of solitude, Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy (and the radio series, the tv series and yes, the film). I also quite enjoy (auto)biographies.

Movies:
Childhood favourites (very important): Labyrinth, Grease, Princess Bride, The Dark Crystal, Wizard of Oz, Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Lately: Pan's Labyrinth, 300, Stardust, O Brother Where Art Thou, pretty much anything by Pixar (particularly the shorts), Wallace and Gromit, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Fifth Element, Leon, Kinky Boots, Death at a Funeral, Cool Runnings (I know it's fluffy and feel-good, but I'm a girl so I'm allowed) Rosencrantz and Quildenstern are Dead, The Life of Brian, Smokin' Aces, Tropic Thunder and many other films full of gratuitous explosions

Music:
As with my taste in books and film, my taste in music runs to the eclectic. I love music from the 20s, 30s and 40s like the Andrews Sisters, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington. I love the Beatles, Queen, The Doors, Kinks, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Christy Moore, Tom Lehrer, and my secret shame: tacky 80s music

Food:
I just love good food. I probably couldn't live without spicy food but what I really love is trying something I've never eaten before.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

how to explain the quirks, idiosyncrasies and outright paradoxes of the English language. What to knit/crochet next and what tasty things to make for dinner.

On a typical Friday night I am

Dancing. I do a little bit of ballroom dancing, latin, tango, swing and salsa. I don't like overcrowded bars and nightclubs where one has to guess what others are shouting in your ear. I prefer to do my socialising where it's possible to be social.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am an open book, what do you want to know?

You should message me if

you won't be offended by a delayed reply (I must admit to being a bit of a procrastinator)
