I've been spending a lot of time thinking about my job lately, so maybe I should start with that: I'm a postdoctoral researcher. Basically that means I'm halfway between being a student and a professor. I love my field (which is physics) but I'm currently having a bit of a crisis about my research, and wondering if I'm really cut out to be a professor...

When I'm not obsessing about my career issues, I like cooking, running, hiking/backpacking, reading the new york times, and watching comedy central (especially the daily show, the colbert report, and south park). I'm a big larry david fan and never get tired of seinfeld and curb your enthusiasm.

Physics research. This basically means I spend my day in a little office scribbling equations in my notebook. And that's if I'm having a good day. Otherwise, I'm staring out the window, reading the new york times, and trying to figure out if a theoretical physics PhD is useful for anything.

Books: I love Margaret Atwood, especially "The Blind Assassin" and "Cat's Eye." Also, I like pretty much everything Jhumpa Lahiri writes. Other recent books I've liked: "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius", "The Life of Pi", "Everything is Illuminated."

Movies (random selection): Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, There Will be Blood, Raising Arizona, Superbad, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Woody Allen movies, Six Easy Pieces, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Shawshank Redemption, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Rocky.

Music: Pink Floyd, The Cure, Leonard Cohen, The Smiths, The Eagles, Coldplay, Keane, Glen Hansard, Radiohead, B.B. King, U2.

Food: I like pretty much everything - especially ethnic food. The spicier, the better.

4. Sneakers (for running - when I stop I actually get withdrawal symptoms).
5. Internet access (sad, but true)
