I am romantic, cynical, and contradictory.

My Self-Summary

I am a not so typical girl looking for something extraordinary. Maybe you are that extraordinary something.
Even if you aren't, maybe we could be friends or go on casual dates. I would like to meet new people and try some new things.
I've spent most of my adult life either married or in a serious relationship, so I am not looking to get into anything serious too quickly. I don't want any more children, so I have no biological imperative to rush into a relationship.
If you want to have fun without the pressure to step into the husband shoes, I might just be your girl. I have my own house and my own stuff and I am not looking for someone to take care of me. I will make room when the time is right, but am not interested in anything rushed.

What I’m doing with my life

Working more than I want to, watching movies, reading books, taking pictures and going on long walks (not on the beach, usually).

I’m really good at

I am good at being funny and I try to make people feel comfortable in all situations.
I am also reasonably good at grammar and spelling, but not so much with the punctuation.
Remember class: Capitalization is the difference between "I helped my uncle jack off a horse." and "I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse."

The first things people usually notice about me

Physically, people notice my hair and my eyes first, I would guess.
Otherwise, my complete unwillingness to be serious until forced comes to the fore pretty quickly.
I have also been called a social butterfly, which is funny because I think of myself as an introvert.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I love a lot of classic literature, mainly French and Russian: Les Miserables, Crime and Punishment, Dangerous Liasons , Catch-22, Roots, The Unbearable Lightness of Being and it goes on and on, so I will make it stop.
I also like anything that makes me laugh and I love Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I like Dave Eggers and of course chick lit.

Movies: The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Conversations with Other Women, Tommy Boy, Thank You for Smoking, any MST3K and it goes on and on. I really loved horror films and novels growing up, but have turned into a sissy, but can be talked into an occasional scary movie these days.
I don't own a television, but have a few shows I liked when they were on, or like on dvd: Red Dwarf, Dr. Katz, Just Shoot Me and Newsradio.

Music: I listen to almost anything, with a few exceptions. The exceptions would be country, some rap, most classical and I tend to dislike jazz. Typically and when I have a choice, I prefer what would be called alternative rock, although some days I get really into dance music. Ironic, since I don't dance, but it is fun to listen to if you have a rough day.

Food: I like almost all ethnic foods. I specialize in weird foods a lot of people haven't heard of though. I was raised by pseudo health fanatic hippie types. I love Ovaltine and nutritional yeast and Spike and Nature's Seasoning. I was eating tofu before I could talk and still love it.

The six things I could never do without

1. laughter
2. books
3. friends
4. sex
5. sunshine
6. coffee

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the future, particularly the weekends and what I will do with them. I also wonder if I can never remarry now that my closet is totally full. I mean, where would a guy put his clothes? I am kinda practical, I guess.

On a typical Friday night I am

out with my girlfriends or my kid, depending on what kind of weekend it is. I like a lot of live music and just getting out of the house. In the winter though, I do like to just hang out on the couch with a movie and stay warm.
I work a desk job where I have to behave all day, which isn't so easy, so I try to get as much fun in on the weekends as I can.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I love false dichotomies. I don't care about all the bad things logicians and philosophers have to say about them. I think they are hilarious. You are either my best friend or you hate my guts. It is absurd. I heart it.

You should message me if

chivalry isn't dead and you are capable of proving it. I truly fear it is. I would like to be wrong.
If you cannot prove chivalry isn't dead or you have no idea what it is, please at least be entertaining.
OR
You don't have a mullet. That would be a fabulous place to start.
OR
If you aren't intimidated by a woman who knows what she wants.
