My self-summary
Oh joy! My favorite part, describing myself. Ok, so I discovered this site today, so I don't have a picture up yet, but I eventually. Now on the the stuff I like. I'm into foreign film, indie film, viewing picture of people, places, art and architecture on the internet. Love cooking for other people, but I'm really satisfied with what prepare, despite the high praise of my guest. I have a thing for Germany and German girls, so intend to move there at some point in my life.

I am devious, straightforward, and anfractuous
What I’m doing with my life
Graduted with a major in math and a minor in computer science. I "work" in telecom, and the only good part about is that I get to surf seven hours a day. I'm back in school studying finance.
I’m really good at
Cooking, as mentioned above. It my secret weapon to get a girl to fall in love with. The space monkey who gave me this powerful weapon told me to use it wisely.
The first things people usually notice about me
To quote the increadibly wise Homer Simpson: "Well if I could gouge out somebody else's eyes and shove them into my my sockets I would". Since I can't do that, I'm too sure how to answer this question.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Christiane F - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, Barbarian at the Gates

Movies, in no particular order: Christiane F - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo If you watch this movie, make sure are in a very happy mood, or else you feel like jumping in front of a bus. It's the true story of a Berlin girl who was junkie and prostitute by age 13. Here are the firs two line from Roger Eberts review: " This is one of the most horrifying movies I have ever seen. The fact that it's based on actual events makes it heartbreaking "

Les Invasions Barbares aka The Barbarian Invasions Very, very good Qubcois movie, won an Oscar for best foreign language film, the first sequel to ever do so. Won best screenplay and best actress at Cannes. Very nice movie, won lots of awards and nominations. In the movie one of the characters send an email. I took note of the email address (a hotmail address) and for the fun of it I sent out a test email. To my surprise i got a response. The person at the other was well aware it was used in the movie as he/she provided it to them. The person never identified who he/she was.

Sweet Sixteen Good movie, won best screenplay at Cannes. Won many awards and nominations.

Cidade de Deus aka City of God Shockingly based on a true story about life in a Rio slum. Won many awards and nominations.

Diarios de motocicleta aka Motorcycle Diaries Based on a road trip Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (aka Che Guevara) and Alberto Granado took accross South America. Explain the process that lead to Guevara's marxist leanings. The scenery in it is spectacular. Won many awards and nominations.

Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amlie Poulain Such a wonderful movie. Won many awards and nominations.

C.R.A.Z.Y Excellent Qubcois movie. Canada's entry for both the Oscars and the Golden Globes. Now has distributors in over 50 countries.

Show me Love aka Fucking ml A wonderful teenage lesbian love story from Sweden (no sex, no nudity, damn!). It's in Swedish with English subtitles. Won many awards and nominations.

The Believer About a Jewish Neo-Nazi skinhead. Quite shocking. Inspired by true event. Won many awards and nominations.

Au revoir, les enfants/Auf Wiedersehen, Kinder Very sad but very good movie a French boarding school during the second world war. By Louis Malle. Won many awards (including best foreign language film and best screenplay at the oscars) and nominations.

Der Untergang aka Downfall About the last few days of the Nazi regime. It's almost surreal the dillusions some of the high ranking nazis were under. Won many awards and nomination (nominated for best foreign language film at the Oscars).

Stalingrad This is the story of the battle of Staligrad. It's told from the German perspective, so it's very bleak. Everobody dies. In my opinion the best war movie ever made...

Moi Csar A very sweet French movie

La Grande Sduction aka Seducing Doctor Lewis Another great Quebecois movie (when you talk of good Canadian movies now-a-days, you're talking about Qubcois films)

Sraphin: Un homme et son pch This is the film version of one Qubec great classics of litterature. It's very heartbreaking. It's not very well known outside Qubec. Here's the official website (in French)

Aurore Another great Qubcois film (are you noticing a patern here?) This is the true of Aurore Gagnon, who died of the abuse inflicted by her stepmother. It's quite a disturbing movie. Here the official site

Nikita Cool French movie. There's an American remake called Beyond the Point of no Return, which really sucks ass.

Carundiru This is a film about life in what was at the time one of Brazil's most notorious prisons, and of the events leading to the bloodiest riot ever in a Brazilian prison (I remember watching the news report on TV). On October 2nd 1992, 111 inmates were shot to death as police stormed the penitentiary. It won many awards and nominations

Elling Hillarious Norwegian movie about two nut jobs. They live in a mental institution until the state feels it's time for them to re-integrate society. They're provided with a state funded apartment, living expenses and pocket money, but they must live like normal people (answer the phone, go outside, buy groceries, cook food). Highly recommended. It was nominated for best foreign language film ate Oscar. It won many awards and nominations.

Mies vailla menneisyytt aka The Man Without a Past The story of a man who arrives in Helsinki and is mugged. When he wakes up he can't remember who he is. The acting is hillarious. Touching. Was nominated for best for best foreign language film at the Oscars. It won many other award (including best actress and grand jury prize at Cannes) and nominations (20).

Thirteen Reminds me a little of my teen years. Hmmm!!! It won many awards and nominations (including best actress in a supporting role at the Oscars).

La Haine aka Hate I have this on a burned cd as the DVD is not available in North America. I watched it again few weeks ago as it reminded me of the riots in France. It's directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, who plays the love interest of Amlie Poulain, in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amlie Poulain. He also plays a leading role in the new Spielberg movie, Munich.

Hotel Rwanda Based on "the true-life story of Paul Rusesabagina, a hotel manager who housed over a thousand Tutsis refugees during their struggle against the Hutu militia in Rwanda." Very powerful

Welcome to Sarajevo The siege of Sarajevo as told by the reporters who were covering it. Woody Harrelson's best role in my opinion.

La Mala educacin aka The Bad Education Really good movie. A movie about drugs, hustling, sex(gay sex, it's Pedro Amoldovar after all), cross dressing, murder and movie making.

Amores perros aka Love's a Bitch By the same director as 21 Grams. The storyline is like the one in 21 Grams, but this movie is far, far better. The main actor in this movie is Gael Garca Bernal, who's also the main character in La Mala educacin aka The Bad Education, and the main character in Diarios de motocicleta aka Motorcycle Diaries. He's the one who plays Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (aka Che Guevara).

My brain hurts ;) I have more but I'm having trouble remembering titles...

If you could only watch five of these movies, the I recommend, in no particular order:

Good Bye Lenin! Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amlie Poulain Les Invasions Barbares aka The Barbarian Invasions Cidade de Deus aka City of God Der Untergang aka Downfall

but then, all of these movies are good...

Music: Mostly electronic stuff

Food: French, Italian, Nouvelle Cuisine, Cuisine du March, Cheese...
