My self-summary
I'm a young guy with a mindful, open-minded attitude towards life.

I'm slow to move, but deliberate when I do. I firmly believe in stopping to think. I believe a large proportion of the world's problems are a result of folks not taking those few moments out to say "is this REALLY what I want?"

I LOVE board games. I'm talking the physical versions. You know, where someone can cheat while nobody's watching and somebody finally catches it and gets pissed off? FUN.

I love getting in a bit of photography here and there, too, though the subjects of my photos aren't often what you'd expect.

I am avowedly non-religious, but although I have strong opinions on the matter, if you're civil and don't try to convert me, and have no intent to do so, I'm sure I could make it work. I do occasionally rant on religion, but I try to dissociate this from the people themselves; Most religious folks are decent enough folks; I just think they hold a belief that's flawed and doesn't have any evidence. I don't necessarily think they're the devil incarnate.

But don't let that put you off - most of the time I'm a very courteous guy. I have my moments, sure, but I want to take an interest in *you*. At the same time, I'm not all that clingy - I like a bit of space, and I figure most girls prefer some of their own as well. The way I figure, I have all of my future to get to know you, I have no plans to rush, and I won't do *all* the running after you. I will pursue, but at times I also like to be pursued - I prefer a little give and take. It keeps things fresh.

I've noted that I dislike cats, but I don't HATE them - and it's certainly not a dealbreaker by any means... I've been dealing with the family cat for a while now (she pesters me just a BIT too much)... But I *love* dogs.

I am considerate, quirky, and a contradiction
What I’m doing with my life
Looking for work. Harder than you'd think when you can't drive. I'm doing some volunteer work doing PC refurbishment and repairs a few days a week to keep myself busy.

I also blog here and there.
I’m really good at
Singing, I'm told. Procrastinating sadly is something I'm also far too good at. I can also throw some great accents, and some incredibly silly ones as well, which I have a lot of fun with.

As an additional entry in the "useless talent" category I can *almost* recite V's (from V for Vendetta) introduction speech completely.

I can also recite the seven levels of the OSI model if you want a headache. :p
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair's usually a mess (see newest picture). :p No, really, it's hopeless. I've given up trying to do anything with it. Has a mind of its own.

I'm always amazed that it's not my eyes (look CLOSELY and you'll see why).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and anything that will get me thinking... I've also read (and own) 1984, as a change of pace, which made me shudder, as some of it sounded eerily familiar... I love a bit of Shakespeare as well. Have the complete works. Also find books on scientific subjects fascinating.

I've been reading Christopher Hitchens' memoir Hitch-22 of late and am finding it a great read (He had a REALLY interesting life, let me tell you - even if you don't agree with him, it's worth a read to get inside his mind a little).

Yes, my taste is a little unusual, but I do read more normal books as well. Just not as many of them. :p

I confess to not being as well read as I'd like to be, but I'm trying to make amends for that.

As far as music, I'm pretty easy, as long as it's not 80's or really cheesy pop. Ugh. There is select 80's music I'll listen to, but most of it isn't appealing to me. I don't know why people like the stuff so much. Among my favourite bands however are The Living End, Crowded House, Muse (who use synths as they should be used, as an organic part of the music, not AS the music), and many late 60's and 70's rock/heavy rock/metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and a few others as well. I'm also very keen on Bad Religion, NOFX, The Clash, Dead Kennedys and a number of other punk bands. Not a fan of the pop punk though. Ew. That said, I'm not averse to genuinely thoughtful and considered pop music with genuinely good lyrics and a good riff.

I enjoy a lot of older movies, particularly the epics. Having said this there's still some modern films I enjoy. I enjoy both Star Wars and Star Trek (both camps would call me a traitor :p) and I like films with a political undercurrent that touch on grey areas (V for Vendetta is very good at this).

I have a new favourite movie - Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. Bloody brilliant. I'm also a big fan of both the stage and recent film production of Les Miserables.

Food? I love pizza and pasta, but will eat practically anything that tastes good.
The six things I could never do without
1/ "Fluffy" (my computer.. 2/My friends (I'd probably crack, otherwise). 3/ Music (see above). 4/ Public Transport (I can't drive). 5/ Food water etc. (duh!) 6/ The internet.

Not in any specific order, folks!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm gonna do with my life. I finished school eight? years ago and STILL haven't made up my mind... Though I just might pursue this IT thing if the economy doesn't go too far into the crapper.

Also the fucked up nature of politics generally. The system's fucked, we're fucked, and we seem to be content with it, which frustrates me to no end. My politics are pretty radical, and pretty left-leaning, so if you're a staunch right-wing person, I suspect we'll have problems. Human decency is a common theme in these stances.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting at home in front of the computer, usually. I'm not into nightclubbing. A large proportion of that is because the music drives me INSANE! Sometimes I'll just read. As I said above, I love books, and if I had the money and space to do it, I'd build a small library.

There's also the fact I'm looking for work and am hence rather broke, lol.

There's also the fact that I can't dance to save my life - though I'd LOVE to learn.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am SO not "less kinky". Not that I've tried any of it... But I'll try almost anything once!

ASK before you assume I'll do it though, there are limitations.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–30
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
1. You have an interesting, quirky personality. (little quirks are AWESOME!)
2. You like what you've read about me.
3. You're looking for a friend (I'll be a friend to almost anyone).
4. You have any suggestions on how to say what I'm saying better. I'm great at saying most things but not sure about describing myself.
5. You're not afraid of dating a somewhat bigger guy. I won't lie about this; I'm a bigger guy. I'm a nice one, very loving and compassionate, but I am a bigger guy.
6. You don't care about height. I *am* the 5'5" shown, that is not a lie, it is not a mistake. I'm a shorter guy. Deal with it. Your height? You can be 3'9" for all I care (so long as you're legal).
7. You appreciate well written and spelt English. This isn't a deal-breaker by any means, but I try my best to type clearly and properly, and I figure if you like the same, we have at least that aspect in common. I'm not particularly a stickler for grammar, unless the sin is particularly egregious.

In addition, it is preferred that you're within Australia if you're looking for any possibility of physical meeting. I'm quite happy to make *friends* with folks from other countries, but beyond that, I'd prefer not to. I'm all too aware of the difficulties involved in such relationships and prefer to avoid them.

I'm not 100% absolutely going to say NO on that, but be prepared to wait a *very* long time before we can meet (on the order of 5-10 years, if ever).

I have listed casual sex here, but I would *strongly* prefer an actual relationship, but the former is an option. I am most definitely *not* a commitment-phobe in this regard.
