i'm a transplant from new england, i've been in illinois for about a year now and i like it a lot. people would describe me as witty, friendly, energetic, sensitive, and willing to philosophize about anything. i enjoy my work and tend to get really absorbed in it, but am able to pull away and relax. when i'm not reading, writing, or teaching, i'm on walks with my dog, a feisty two year old boston terrier; making art (before grad. school i was an artist / high school teacher); enjoying the company of good friends; or running to my 10K training mix at the gym (lots of iron maiden and black sabbath-heavy metal makes me run faster).

i'm looking to meet a good friend and let it slowly evolve into something more if it needs to. i believe these connections should happen organically and respectfully. i'm looking for someone who has a similar, mature view.

i'm a doctoral student in education and i teach (i read all day in a library and stress). my goal is to be a professor.

i like 90's alternative / indie, i especially adore sebadoh, dinosaur, sonic youth, built to spill, radiohead, the pixies and bad religion, andrew bird, the mountain goats, miles davis, godspeed you!, guided by voices.
i'll eat anything ethnic, preferably things with chopsticks

good music to listen too, close friends, something to read, something to draw or write with, a pint of stout, my dog.
