My self-summary
My ex-fiancee wrote the following as a sort of birthday present for me a couple of years ago, about a year after we had split up. It's a far better summary than I could ever write for myself, and all the more so because I'm not the one saying it.

Some key points on how to be a Jeremy:
+ have a big grinning smile and laugh generously, with abandon
+ be deeply moved by just how much you love your friends
+ listen to music like others breathe air and you're sure god lives in harmonies and piano rock
+ have your commitment to saying the funny thing only be trumped by your willingness to uplift all around you by being a total witty-ass goofball
+ be driven to quietly solve problems w/ fancy-pants brain, especially late at night
+ bow to the laws of physics- once you're movin' keep goin' and once you stop stay. very. still.
+ be spacious, kind and funny in a way that has people like being around you
+ know how to throw a Good party
+ be a role model to others on how to receive
+ dance like you mean it
+ wear cute clothes
+ don't care what other people think
+ be occasionally confronted by how much you feel
+ be sweet to the core.
What I’m doing with my life
So tempted to simply put "I have no idea", but that's not exactly true. A more Zen answer would "I'm about to practice not doing". A less cryptic answer: "I've quit my job, and my last day is July 19. It is my intention to not work for 6-12 months after that date."

The day after my last day of work, I am getting on a plane for Papua New Guinea, where my dad, brother and I will be hiking the Kokoda Track (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokoda_Track). I then have 3 weeks to spend in the area- Bali is the leading contender. I have a return flight to the US at the end of August, and absolutely no plans past that point. Lots and lots of ideas though...
I’m really good at
...referring you to the self-summary section above.
The first things people usually notice about me
My big, bright smile. Or possibly my laugh, they might hear me first. It can get loud.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There's a phrase in High Fidelity which I love: professional appreciator. Of course, I don't actually get paid for appreciation. In fact, it's generally the other way around; I pay for the things I appreciate. At this moment in time, here's what I'm appreciating:

Books: The Three Marriages by David Whyte. Assorted poetry by Mary Oliver.

Movies: A couple of times in the past few months I've wanted a good cry, and watched a couple of favorites in that category- In America, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. "Trois couleurs: Rouge" is my all-time favorite.

Shows: After a succession of dark shows (Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead), I've been enjoying the relative sunniness of The West Wing. Also, Stephen Colbert regularly amazes (and amuses, nay, slays) me.

Music: I have been obsessively listening to De La Soul later albums, which then leads to house dancing, car dancing, and even walk dancing. When my mood is elsewise, it's the newest Iron & Wine and Junip albums.

Food: As a newly minted Rockridge resident, I've been happily exploring by foot the local fine dining options. My current rotation is Wood Tavern, Southie, TOAST, À Côté and Burma Superstar.
The six things I could never do without
- Music/my piano (what am I going to do when I'm travelling??)
- Dancing
- My closest friends
- Physical contact
- Reflection
- Solitude
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How the universe works. Why we do the things we do. Why I do the things I do. The balance between intention and presence. Conversations I might have. The newest piano riff I'm trying to learn to play. Women I'm attracted to. What I want in my life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday nights are usually mellow, either unwinding at home or dinner/hangout with good friends. I also go out dancing when the pull to move wins over the pull to stay still.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a slight drooling problem. I'm pretty discreet about it, but every so often one of my friends (or worse, co-workers) will catch me. I dare you to take someone who just drooled on himself seriously- go ahead, try.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 26–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You would like to be serenaded at my piano. You're open to new experiences and ideas, and you're naturally curious about your life. You like to dance. You can see the funny side of things (or enjoy having it shown to you). You enjoy verbal sparring as long as it's well-intentioned. You're willing to stir the shit up when necessary.

Or you'd simply like to get brunch/watch a great movie/go out dancing with a very easy-going guy.
