I am Fun, Geeky, and a hoopy frood.
My Self-Summary
I've been
Role-playing since the mid-90's
and have played probably 2 dozen different systems. I also enjoy
board games
and
video
games, though I don't dig on many FPS games and don't have an
any cool consoles (I want a Wii though). My favorite author is
probably
Jim
Butcher...and Neil Gaiman...My two favorite authors are Jim
Butcher, Neil Gaiman, and Terry Pratchet...My THREE..three Favorite
authors are Jim Butcher,
Neil Gaiman,
Terry Pratchett, and
Robert Asprin... :)
Know what I mean? For music I mostly favor
Classic Rock or
Musicals. I do enjoy
comic books as well.
I'm unemployed at present but not a penniless bum. When I return to
work it will be to return to the field of Tech Support, provided
the job market allows. I'm part of a regular
gaming group so if you lack one you could
easily be assimilated. Or we could assimilate your whole group, we
will add their
biological
and technological distinctiveness to our own.
Seriously, I'm a nice guy, or I like to think of myself as one. I
don't drink a lot or smoke but I don't mind people who do either of
those. I spend most of my time online or at least on my computer
watching one video or another. Normally if I'm not to be found
there you can certainly find me out with my friends playing board
games or RPGs or on rare occasions shopping for books. I'm told
that our Profile should be about one thousand words long so please
forgive me if I tend to ramble.
I've met a few famous people in my life. Jim Butcher (One of my
favorite authors), Neil Gaiman (Another of my favorite authors), Ed
Greenwood (creator of the Forgotten Realms), Larry Elmore (Fantasy
Artist and writer of SnarfQuest), Gary Gygax (One of the creators
of D&D) , Jody Lynn Nye (a writer and illustrator of Fantasy
books), Todd MacCaffrey (He writes Dragonriders of Pern since his
mother retired), "Weird" Al Yankovic (World class parodist and
accordion player), John "Bermuda" Schwartz (Drummer for "Weird"
Al), and Kevin Sorbo (Played Hercules in the TV series) all come to
mind. I've found I don't tend to get starstruck when meeting famous
people.
I've got a few blogs that I would be glad to link to you upon
request. Also a Gmail and an AIM screen name either of which can be
used to contact me almost any time you want.
I play World of Warcraft a little but I'm currently on Hiatus from
it. When I do play I'm on horde side, preferably playing a troll or
my Pally, who sadly had to be an elf...don't judge me for his race.
I watch some anime, usually preferring the humorous ones. I also
read and enjoy the same type of manga.
I really hope to hear back from people, I've not had much luck with
online dating websites but one of my best friends is an OKCupid
success story so I know that they can work. Again I apologize for
how rambly this has been. If you're still interested after learning
so much about me, please read on.
I think my Profile needs more alliteration to make it pop. I'll get
to adding it soon maybe.
What I’m doing with my life
Striving to be happy without impairing the happiness of anyone else
I’m really good at
Karaoke, Video
Games, Trivia, Board Games, Role-Playing Games,
Reading at insane speeds, and
making friends
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a big (6'4" 350lbs) Red-head guy who sometimes has a full beard
or alternately a clean-shaven baby face...What part of that
wouldn't you notice?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books- anything by Jim butcher, Robert Asprin, Neil Gaiman,
J.K.
Rowling or Terry Pratchett
Movies- I enjoy
musicals, comedies, movies based on
comic books or books I have read, action, and in small doses
romantic comedies
Music- I like
Classic Rock,
"Weird" Al
Yankovic,
They Might Be Giants,
The Aquabats
and musicals...Heck you can follow my BlipFM channel if you want a
good indication... http://blip.fm/captain_jester I've been going
through the alphabet with my songs/artists...though sometimes I
take a day or two off.
Food- I don't eat vegetables.
The six things I could never do without
My friends
My dice
Something good to read
Some form of gaming every now and then
Entertainment
A positive attitude
Things I COULD do without include
Traffic - I tend to get very frustrated in it, not least because my
AC doesn't work so I rely on my windows for a breeze
Users - You know the type, people who just take and take and never
give back
Political Parties - It's gotten so republicans and democrats think
anyone from the other party is inherently a bad guy. That's just
stupid. So is letting your party tell you how to think. Message me
if you want to hear how I think a leader should be chosen.
Organized religion - Don't get me wrong, I consider myself
Christian, but I feel most organized religions have got it wrong,
and again they try to tell people how to think and believe.
about 150lbs - I could stand to lose a good bit of weight, I won't
lie to you, but I am exercising regularly now and have been assured
that I will be "Rock star hot" if I stick with it.
Intolerance/Hate - Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness in that order...but if your happiness depends
on keeping other people down for whatever reason then it's a
problem because they have the same rights as you.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Plans. I'm a spontaneous person for the most part and yet I always
find myself planning through everything...What I'd like to do the
next day, Conversations I've anticipated coming up, just about
anything.
Also I think a lot about ideas for a book. I've not written one yet
but I'm full of ideas for them.
What I would do with superpowers, or imagining I already have them
as I move (Yes, I've imagined web-slinging my way around big
warehouse stores)
Games and characters
Deep political and religious shit
not so deep shit...
On a typical Friday night I am
Gaming with my friends or doing Karaoke, or reading, or seeing a
movie. If I had my druthers I'd be spending it with a date if not a
girlfriend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Enough about me. You are awesome. You're just great. You're out
ther putting yourself out, risking rejection in hopes of finding
what makes you happy. Not everyone is brave enough to take a chance
on being happy. Whether I hear from you or not I hope you have a
fantastic day and I know someday soon you'll find what you're
looking for.
You should message me if
I interest you but in fairness...
I'm looking for the kind of woman who can happily talk to me for
hours about stupid geeky stuff. I want someone with whom I can
share all of my passions and who would share her passions with me.
A good night in would be a new episode of
Doctor Who and some
cuddling, talking about
books,
comics, or whatever the heck else we
think of. A great night out alone together would involve good food,
maybe a movie or shopping in a book store (or better a comic book
store), and just doing whatever suits our fancy...maybe video games
at Gameworks or Dave and Buster's, or maybe just
driving and
talking.
