My self-summary
UNDER CONSTRUCTION!.. No, *I'M fully constructed...this profile is not.. I'll be filling this out as I go.... Analog rather than Digital, Sinatra rather than Buble, I dont like things that are supposed to taste like other things, I crave authentic experiences, to that end, I take my martinis dry and my scotch neat..I enjoy counterpoint, be it baroque music, or the tang and crispness of *good* kraut juxtaposed to *good* pastrami..(no mayo please).. I have a flypaper brain, (this misleads some into thinking Im really, really smart, I'm not, just somewhat Smarter than the Average Bear) but my flypaper is decidedly one-sided. The sticky side is for really interesting, largely useless information, the non-stick side is for stuff like names, dates, and deadlines. I *will* remember your birthday, and I *will* show up on time..because I work hard at those things.. I'm a very quick study of most things, and commensurately have gnat-like attention span. I dont mow the lawn in strips. I have no incredible talent in any one area, just kinda-talent in whole lot of areas. I sing quite well, I can dance well enough to fool non-dancers into thinking I can dance, I enjoy opera (well done), can tell a Brancusi from a Modigliani, a Pollock from a DeKoonig, I can tell Bach from Handel, or rebuild a Lotus motor in the kitchen..(dont worry, I have a shop now)... I own my own tuxedo.. I've been told I'm a Gentleman, and the Perfect Date/Escort...(I think it was the tux) I'm given to dots rather than puctuation, perhaps due to too much Herb Caen in my formative years. Grew up listening to Don Sherwood, and Al Collins ..raised by a pair of East Bay Stevenson Democrats, steeped in the sensibilities of the Progressive wing of the Episcopal Church.. While some of my best friends are Republicans, I probably wouldnt want my daughter to marry one...I'm from the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party... PROGRESSIVE on social/civil rights issues, yet tight with a buck..I daydream a lot..I care passionaltely about some things...like social justice, art, education,.. and dont give a rip about a somewhat longer list of other things...
What I’m doing with my life
I've just recently realized I'm entering a new phase of my life. I was taking care of my mom for some years. I dont have to do that anymore, and it's taken the better part of a year to let to freedom seep in. I'm enjoying this thing called freedom.
I’m really good at
The beginning stages of nearly everything. But then boredom sets in. I'm really good at conducting choirs.. I can teach anyone to sing... saying funny stuff... or just having stuff come out funny. Pretty good at Scrabble, but I'm out of shape. I'm good at being completely dis-interested in other people's personal matters that don't concern me. I'm wonderful at not asking questions I already know the answer to, and not asking questions that I may not want to know the answer to, or questions that my put the lady in question on the spot.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well.. You'd have to ask *them*..
Probably that I'm pretty funny... even when I'm serious, but many people dont get that..... oh, and the fact I usually drive up in weird cars...
