My self-summary
I am a scientist, a skeptic, filled with curiosity about the natural world, and I like adventures that I've never tried before. My politics are all over the map, but solidly humanitarian. I enjoy vacations in places where I don't speak the language and don't have enough money to buy my way out of problems that arise. I was married to someone I deeply loved. Sadly, there were no children and the marriage only lasted ten years. I enjoy feeling like I'm needed. While I do not think much of my university, I love my job because it allows me to teach, scratch my curiosity, and travel.
What I’m doing with my life
I've been a professor and scientist for a number of years. I spend my summers on expeditions. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and scratching my curiosity. I also enjoy traveling, puttering in my greenhouse, exploring jungles and deserts, rereading my favorite scifi writers, and learning new things. I'm a little tired of fighting the good fight, but I still like the occasional tangle with irresponsible politicians and fundamentalist/extremist wacko's.
I’m really good at
Solving problems.
The first things people usually notice about me
My "blonde" hair, my non-stop curiosity, my corny sense of humor, and my dog - a friendly yellow lab named Ben who often accompanies me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read everything in sight, I love bad movies, I like symphonies, R&B, and some jazz, and I love to eat everything that doesn't eat me first. My tastes in food range from Taco Bell to Chateau Brianne.
The six things I could never do without
my dog, my passport, NYTimes, my greenhouse, friends, hope
