I am lousy at picking favorites. I like to mix and match from
wherever I find inspiration. I love spicy food (especially
South/Southeast Asian), soulful music or haunting female vocals,
provocative theater (I don't even run from the painfully arty with
random nudity) and books that make me question my assumptions. I
believe that whiskey, wine and good beer are gifts from heaven. I
used to DJ and I have a wide collection of vinyl. I went to Iceland
for the Airwaves Festival and the local music scene blew my mind.
Lately I'm listening to Little Dragon, Emiliana Torrini, Oh Land,
Raphael Saadiq and yes I did fall in love with Beyonce's new album
(I can't deny).
I don't really watch television much but I binged my way through
Scandal, Breaking Bad and House of Cards. I've been reading lots of
memoirs lately. I just re-read James Baldwin's, The Fire Next Time
- that man shakes my soul and loosens out all the good stuff. I was
raised in a scifi/fantasy household. When I was a toddler, my mom
took me to see the Empire Strikes Back four times in the theater. I
inhale creative cinema and I love a good documentary. My iPhone
case once had Han Solo in carbonite on it (for reals).
