I am warm, wise, and full of wonder.

My Self-Summary

Thanks for taking a closer look.

My life is full and happy. I have good friends and close family. My mother lives nearby as does my step-daughter, who is the mother of five. Yet, despite these true blessings, I am lonely without that one special someone.

I'm new AGAIN to dating (online or otherwise) so I'm taking it one step at a time. I'm a widow. My husband died in 2006 after a lengthy illness. I've moved through my grief and now I face being single for the first time since the late 70's. I know, from the full and loving life that I have lived so far, that I have what it takes to be in a dynamic and mutually nurturing relationship. It's only in the details of this dating game that my skills are a little rusty....is it really like riding a bike??...maybe so, I'm getting better at this every day.

I consider myself witty, funny and bright. I am honest and caring and considerate of others. I am a good listener who also enjoys talking on a wide variety of subjects. I'm not a person of boundless energy...I'm a calm spirit and savor my quiet time. I'm cautiously optimistic about most things in life yet quite open to new adventures.

Generally, I live a healthy lifestyle. I do not smoke or drink, I eat nutritiously and I have begun the practice of yoga and meditation. I'm not quite "perfect" yet...but to always be moving toward perfection is the trick!!!!

Look out world here I come.

What I’m doing with my life

A local college has a dynamic senior education program (for those of us 55 and older). I’ve become very active during this academic year and enjoy it immensely. Through writing classes, I have discovered my natural gift for self-expression. My study of yoga and meditation has started me on a path of peace and well being that comforts and amazes me with each day’s practice. Other classes explore a wide range of interest and expand my social world.

My little house (circa 1954) is more like a chronic renovation site than the sweet cottage I dream it will someday be. The next big project is a bathroom redo and plans are shaping up nicely. Yeah, I am the eternal optimist but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

After a career in community-based social services for people with disabilities and many years as the primary caregiver for my severely ill husband, I am "Retired". Now it's time to focus on taking care of me.

I run out of time long before I run out of things that interest me.

Mostly I believe that every day is an adventure to be lived to the fullest....carpe diem!

I’m really good at

...most things I put my mind to
...listening and talking
...cooking
...sudoku and other puzzles
...creative writing and other artistic expression
......just to name a few!

The first things people usually notice about me

Many of my friends, some of whom have only known me for a few months, have commented about how spiritual and sensitive I am. Those who have know me longer say that I am blooming and flourishing in amazing and beautiful ways. No false modesty…..I think they all might be right!!!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm always reading something. I belong to my library's book discussion group. Too many books, not enough time.

I prefer watching movies to most network TV. I manage to watch Jeopardy just about every day. I listen to NPR, especially on the weekend.

I enjoy classical music and attend Nashua Symphony events whenever I can manage. I also listen to classic rock, jazz, ethnic...just about anything except heavy metal, rap or the like.

I have an adventurous palate and love to cook. I'm always ready to try new cuisine, either out or at home.

The six things I could never do without

...the love of family and friends,

...my capacity to reciprocate,

...my freedom of choice

...the peace that comes from knowing that I'm in good company even when I'm alone,

...some creative outlet,

...a good book.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

...my place in the universe and how to be as peaceful and in the moment as possible.
...my carbon footprint and how to minimize it.

On a typical Friday night I am

...the same warm and wonderful woman I am the rest of the week.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Because of my natural tendency to be discreet and circumspect, especially on-line and in the abstract, OKCupid! tends to underestimate both my desire and my experience.

You should message me if

...it seems to you that we might get along and you'd like to know me better.
