What I’m doing with my life
I live about 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh, and I just bought my
first house. I've been working as a secretary in an elementary
school for about two years now. My dream job is to be a children's
librarian. Or a princess. Or a mom. This fall I'm going back to
school to finish my degree in
Library Science. I've been on
hiatus for a while - it took me a long time to figure out that's
what I want to do.
I’m really good at
whistling, spelling, and making people feel good. I'm also really
good at making chicken enchiladas and baked ziti, and I make one
amazing chocolate chip cookie.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't usually get noticed, but if/when I do, people comment on
how nice I am. Or about my hair. It's pretty most days.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love to read. I am currently reading
The Lost Symbol. I like
Jodi Picoult,
Sophie Kinsella,
James Patterson, Janet
Evanovich, and many others. I enjoyed the
Twilight series and I liked Harry
Potter as well. My favorites are "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and
"Life Expectancy" by Dean Koontz. I also love children's books, two
favorites being "The Giving Tree" and "Goodnight Moon"
I have quite a few favorite movies, but here are some from the top
of the list:
Wizard of Oz,
Gone With the Wind,
Spiderman,
I Love You
Man,
40
Year Old Virgin,
It's a Wonderful
Life",
"A Walk to Remember"...
the list goes on. In general, I like comedies, romantic comedies,
musicals, kids' movies, the occasional guy movie (I LOVE
Ocean's 11 and most
superhero
movies.)
TV wasn't asked, but I'm going to include it. I am a huge Grey's
Anatomy fan, as well as American Idol. Family Guy cracks me up. I
watch a moderate amount of reality tv such as The Bachelor and
Dancing With the Stars. I enjoy Worlds Wildest Police Videos and
Animals Gone Wild 4, but I hate Cops. Yes, I am a wealth of
opposites. Three shows I have never seen an episode of but would
love to be introduced to are The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and
Lost. And of course, living just north of Pittsburgh, I rarely miss
a Steelers or Penguins game. Black and Gold, baby!
I love music of all genres - pop, rock, classical, hip hop,
country. Here are some artists that appear regularly in my
playlists:
Hanson.
Maroon 5.
John Mayer.
Jason Mraz.
Dave Matthews Band.
Edwin McCain.
Paolo Nutini.
Kings of Leon.
Michael Jackson.
Lily Allen.
Regina Spektor. Snow Patrol.
Marc
Broussard. Norah Jones. Jack Johnson. Nick Drake. Aerosmith.
Train.
Vitamin String Quartet.
Queen. Michael Buble.
The Clarks. Britney. Gavin Degraw.
Ray
Lamontagne. Jamie Cullum. Rascal Flatts. Christina Aguilera.
Aslyn. The Beatles. Carrie Underwood.
Prince.
Rod Stewart. Frank Sinatra. Billy
Joel. Dashboard Confessional. Journey.
Elton John.
Garth Brooks.
Kelly Clarkson. Chris
Daughtry. Keane. Melanie Horsnell. Iron and Wine. Dixie Chicks.
Elvis Presley. Beyonce. Rihanna. Taylor Swift.
Jack's Mannequin. many,
many more...
I'm always taking suggestions on new books, movies, and music - I'm
very open-minded and love being exposed to new stuff!
Food: I eat a lot of chicken. I have a sweet tooth, and a
particular fondness for candy and birthday cake. Ice cream is the
key to my heart.
The six things I could never do without
Music. Sleep. Books. Laughter. Hugs. Chapstick.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What am I good at? Will I be at this job for the rest of my life?
When will I have kids and will I be a good mom? How much time til I
get to eat/sleep/leave work?
On a typical Friday night I am
Kicking back at home - reading, watching a movie, or intarwebbing,
maybe with a cocktail. Friday nights = rest time. Saturdays are fun
time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I recently met Hanson after being a fan for over 10 years and it
was nearly the best day of my life. I'm not a crazy fangirl though,
promise.
You should message me if
We have something in common and you can carry on intelligent,
grammatically correct conversations that don't include sexual
propositions. Making me laugh, an extensive vocabulary, and a
little nerdiness are bonuses. Aaaaand.... go!
