Hi I'm Amilcar. You read that right. I have a unique and very uncommon name especially for someone of Puerto Rican descent. How I got my name...well there is a good story for that, which you will find out when we message/talk/meet each other. The story also involves my identical (but straight) twin brother...see I'm already giving you good stuff to start a conversation with me!

Short, sweet, and funny New Yorican here with a youthful personality looking to date and take it from there. I'm a creative guy who has too many (nerdy) hobbies and am looking to find someone to take my attention away from them. I'm easy going and have a calm demeanor. A bit shy by nature, but also very open-minded and like trying new things. It's a way for me to get over my initial shyness and break that much more out of my shell. I do warm up quickly however and am an affectionate person...with a bit of "liquid courage" even more so ;-)

I like pop culture and electronic gizmos and doo-dads. Recently got an advanced camera with a switchable lens system and acquired a *brand new, sealed in the box* iPad 1 for super cheap. The camera has been excellent for me to understand the basics of photography and I'm reluctantly getting more into it. I say reluctantly because it can be such an expensive hobby! I'm still trying to find everyday functionality (justify the purchase) for the iPad besides using it to dump my unlistened-to music and unwatched movies onto. I did find an excellent drawing program and along with a stylus I've been updating and redrawing some old cartoons of mine. So far its playing a good role in satisfying my ever changing/rotating arts and crafts needs. Oh, now that I mention it, I'm an arts and craftsy guy. I taught myself how to crochet last summer, I make really cool and kitschy wallets out of duct tape, I cartoon, sometimes I make figurines out of thermo-plastic pellets, and I'm great at complex origami models...the Lobster in Origami for the Enthusiast by John Montroll is my specialty. I also have an Esty page where I try to peddle my goods.

On a more serious note, I recently I had a heart related health scare and that made me put things into a better perspective. I don't procrastinate as often as I used to...it's a hard habit to give up especially since I work so well under pressure. But not to worry, I'm in great health now and I take much better care of myself. I work out 4-5 times a week and have my diet in check. Lost about 20lbs so far and looking to lose the last 15 by mid to late summer.

I'm pretty horrible at speaking Spanish...I have relied on what little I remember from when I was 5 yrs old. I lived in PR then and had become fluent, but lost most of it when we moved back to NYC a year later. At least I never lost my accent! So that is another goal of mine this summer - to get more fluent in Spanish. Work accommodation for Rosetta Stone to the rescue.

Books: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Fourth Bear, The Kane Chronicles( im forever stuck midway through the book)..... I rarely read books....I should read more.

Movies: Anything by Almodovar and studio Ghibli/Miyazaki become my instant classics. I love comedies that range from the dry humor of Christopher Guest and his ensemble to the potty and political satire that South Park delivers. I do enjoy a good summer action blockbuster from time to time. The Avengers was a fun ride!......The Skin I Live In, 50/50, Bridesmaids, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Margaret Cho, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Bad Education Art School Confidential, Transformers (1986), Blades of Glory, Harlem Nights, Nacho Libre, Mean Girls, Harry Potter, The Dark Crystal, Edge of Seventeen

TV: Girls, Game of Thrones, Suburgatory, New Girl, Workaholics, Tosh.0, Parks and Rec, Happy Endings, Glee, Cougar Town, Community, Raising Hope, 30 Rock, Big Bang Theory, True Blood, Louie, Its Always Sunny in Philidelphia, The League, Wilfred, Eastbound and Down, trashy tv like Jersey Shore, Millionaire Matchmaker and Maury Povich. Sometimes I'll catch myself mesmerized by the train wreck that is the Kathy Lee and Hoda hour of the Today Show.

Music: I like all music that I deem catchy....from Britney Spears to Foster the People to Ghostface Killah to Iron Maiden. Sorry country and death metal fans... I haven't caught on to those genres yet. Mayhaps you could change my mind?

Food: Mexican, Indian, Bahn Mi, Thai, Vegetarian, Middle Eastern….I'm not picky

Most likely working! My free days are usually Thursdays and Saturdays. I'm just as happy and comfortable spending the day/night out with friends as I am chillaxing at home.

I admit that I used to be a bit of a flake many years ago, but I have since learned how to be reliable, have integrity, and be a man of my word. I keep my plans. I don't bail out last minute....no matter if something "better" comes along...something seemingly "better" will always come along. And that stick-to-my-guns attitude has worked out for me in the long run and put me in good favor with the Karma gods.

I really appreciate that you took the time to read this far....maybe you didn't and just skimmed to here, but whatever had sustained your interest to this point, thanks.
