My self-summary
I would like to be a friendly, honest, human being who will do anything for the people I care about and lots of things for complete strangers.

Friends, lovers and drinking buddies all welcome to apply.
What I’m doing with my life
I work directly with people who have intellectual/developmental disabilities. Things can get pretty intense at work so I'm pretty busy. I've been doing what I do for 7 years and at my agency in various positions for 3 so clearly I love it. If we go somewhere that involves alcohol and I have enough of it, I will probably show you pictures of some of the amazing people I have met.

I'm also trying to learn American Sign Language, but never find time to practice. If you can help that's a point for you.
I’m really good at
Remembering to take the trash to the curb on pickup night. Making people birthday treats. Making quiche. Cuddling with people/animals. Becoming friends with a group of strangers in a bar.
The first things people usually notice about me
Things people have said about me or called me recently:

"Big heart" not from my doctor fortunately. I got an echocardiogram.

"an anchor" from a good friend/housemate/sibling

"Most reliable person" or variations thereof were commonly said at my birthday a couple years ago

"Old man" from the 15 year old autistic kid I work with.

"Feminist Cowboy" a past dating buddy. One of the best compliments I've ever gotten

"Comic book encyclopedia" My boss who always wants to talk about dorky things with me

but I guess you wouldn't know any of that just by looking at me. I guess tall, beard, cowboy boots?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Majored in the history of American Comic Books in college and am still interested in that casually. I read a lot of old comics from before I was born.

Right now, in addition to comics I am reading Ethical Slut and just finished a book called The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida.

Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Jeff Walker, Patsy Cline, Kris Kristofferson, Steve Earle, Loretta Lynn, Ryan Bingham, The Pistol Annies, Willie Nelson, The Little Willies, George Jones, ect. I like drunk old cowboy music

I'm into good noms

Remember the time John Carpenter and Roddy Piper predicted the future? I think it was called They Live.
The six things I could never do without
A few years ago I would have said cigarettes, but I was wrong about that so none of these are set in stone...

Somewhere to walk to

Good country music to listen to while I walk

Somewhere to stop for a drink and a chat on the way

All the different kinds of people in the world

My slow cookers
I spend a lot of time thinking about
superheroes. pizza. consent. sandwiches. police abuse. dumplings. privilege. tacos. monogamy and it's alternatives. beer. neurodiversity.
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating good food, drinking good drinks and conversing with friends, family or strangers
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I draw a smiley face on the sponge with body wash every morning in the shower. A growing part of me believes that this is the only thing staving off the apocalypse

I tend to like people who are honest. My favorite are people who are willing to give a little for the people they care about and coincidentally care about pretty much everybody. Also people who are smart and self critical and self reflective even when it is hard, specifically people who help me be those things and help me learn and grow.

Let me reiterate, honesty honesty honesty. Honesty.

You take care of yourself, whatever that means to you.

I tend to like people who understand this:
