My self-summary
Holy crap, Go Ducks!

I spent a few too many years in a lucrative job that I absolutely hated, so now I'm back in school working toward a degree in a field I hope to love.

The Big Three (let's get these out of the way shall we?)

1. I am as open-minded as it gets. I genuinely believe that in 50 years we will look back at the way the LGBT community is currently treated with the same shame that we now have about slavery. Laws banning same-sex marriage are so similar to Jim Crow Laws it's astounding. "Separate but equal" is allowing same-sex couples to have "unions" but banning marriages. Disagree with me? Look up Jim Crow.

2. I would be devastated if my significant other decided to abort my child. I'm not even sure if I could stay in that relationship after it happened. BUT, I had a scare once and immediately started contemplating my "options". I'm pro-choice-ish in that I won't vote to outlaw abortion, but you will never find me holding a sign in support. Additionally, I would never think less of you if you are passionately pro-life. Just remember passionately and violently are very different things.

What I’m doing with my life
A little more than a year ago I quit my cushy job and took a pay-cut to be able to go back to school. Every time rent comes due I question my decision, but I know it will have long term benefits.

I'm pursuing a journalism degree at the University of Oregon. I'm very close to a business degree as well, so I might just stay the extra six months and get both.

I ended a long-term relationship almost a year ago, and after many false starts I think I'm finally ready to start dating again. I guess I needed to learn what was really important to me before I asked another partner to embrace my life.

I’m really good at
1. Tetris. I'm pretty sure I could rule the world if Tetris skills were applicable.

2. Roadtripping. I had a fantastic summer '09, and I plan on using my re-discovered roadtripper skills in the near future. I want to see North Cascades National Park in the fall and I'm taking three weeks off in December to do a little more exploring.

3. Cuddling. I know it's cheesy, but I am a dynamite big spoon.

4. Making lists.

The first things people usually notice about me
Right now I have a hole in the crotch of my favorite shorts. I try to wear similar colored boxers until I can find the time to fix'em, but it's not fooling anyone.

The six things I could never do without
1. I find humor in almost everything, so literally speaking I could not live a life without it.

2. Dark chocolate. Sure there is something to be said for a regular Hershey bar, but why not go Dagoba if you have the choice?

3. The love of my family.

4. Something to read.

5. *personal

6. The stomach churning excitement that only comes from the anticipation of my next adventure.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next adventure. I'm really good at sitting around and being mellow, but I'm probably just thinking about the best way to accomplish my most pressing ambitions.

I've also been spending a lot of time thinking about what I really need in my next relationship. My last one was mostly fantastic, but it wasn't enough.

On a typical Friday night I am
Soooooooo..... this last Friday I spent it as the Reverend for a co-worker's wedding. That was an outrageous experience. She had a very traditional ceremony and I volunteered to help her tie the knot before I really knew how serious the proceedings were going to be. Good times. Anyone know a couple who needs a cheap wedding officiant?

Oh and the best part of the whole process was watching all of the guests do a double take when I headed straight for the open bar after the ceremony. I got a few more glares when a bridesmaid and I ended up on the dance floor gyrating in a manner that would be less than appropriate for a practicing minister-- nothing gross or out of place at a wedding, just a little hilarious coming from the state-approved officiant. I wrote the sentence below when I first created this profile not knowing just how prophetic it would end up being.

Probably just being mellow with friends, but I'm up for absolutely anything.

I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
First, take my test.
http://www.helloquizzy.com/tests/the-reason-we-would-never-make-it-to-the-altar-test

I will try to respond to almost everyone who sends me a message (you know who you are Creepy-McGee), but I'm probably not the person you're looking for. I would rather find a wonderful new friend than a significant other at this point. So, if you have the same mindset or emotional fortitude to hear "I think we would be good friends", then by all means send me a message. I don't think I'm hot-sh*t, I just don't want to waste your time.

That being said, I genuinely hope to find a fulfilling relationship in the near future if all of the pieces fit.
