I'm just a guy trying to live an interesting life where I'm constantly trying to challenge myself to experience new things, and learn as much as about myself and the world around me as I can along the way. Originally from a small rural town in Missouri, I left for school in New Jersey. I'm now in DC working for a finance firm in Tyson's Corner.

I enjoy the outdoors, whether it's camping and hiking, or just a long walk around the far corners of DC. I'm decent at Basketball and skiing, but also have a lot of fun running and playing ultimate frisbee. I enjoy cooking and drinking a good bottle of wine, but also love grabbing a beer with friends and enjoying a night out on the town.

I am fun, curious, and reserved

I'm currently working for a proprietary trading firm that specializes in energy derivatives. I never thought I'd be at my first job for so long, but I've been at it for 7 years now.

I'm good at basketball and skiing, I have a pretty good endurance for a long hike or run. With my job I've had the chance to pick up a lot of programming languages, and have gotten to the point where I can actually write decent code. I enjoy having a lengthy conversation about any sort of stimulating topic. Despite what my friends think, I also think I'm pretty good at holding my own in these conversations after a few drinks.

The first thing I usually here from people is a comment about my height. If you make a comment, please don't ask how the air is up there.

I enjoy books that challenge my point of view. A few of my favorites-- Ishmael, god is not great, and Bonfire of the Vanities.
Some of favorite movies are the Godfathers, Casino, American Psycho, and most of Tarantinos work.
I listen to just about everything, but am particularly fond of classical music, classic rock, some older pop, and alternative music.
I eat just about anything, but my favorite is usually a nice piece of red meat.

I spent six weeks hiking and camping in Alaska after my sophomore year in college. With only some food, two good friends, and a few million acres of wilderness, it was probably the happiest I've ever been. Sometimes I wonder if my things have gotten in the way of that simplistic happiness.

I spend a lot of time thinking about interesting problems from work. Fortunately they are usually interesting problems that I learn something from, but at the same time it's just helping our CEO make a little more money.

I wouldn't say that I have a typical Friday night routine. I might be out of town visiting people, or staying in cooking a meal with friends and enjoying a movie with a few bottles of wine. Sometimes I'll even be tired enough to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

I come from a family of artists, yet I fail at drawing even the simplest stick figure and my handwriting looks like I've suffered a stroke.
