My self-summary
I'm warm, inquisitive, eclectic, and emotionally responsive ...
Mental stimulation is important; humor is indispensable.
Fortunate to have had a happy childhood and a colorful extended family: Irish & English on one side, Italian-Swiss on the other. Interested in the world, people, & the places where psychology & spirituality meet.

I'm grateful for this interesting, fulfilling, challenging life.
In various incarnations I've been a political consultant, teacher
(K-college), writer, graphologist, sales manager, Right-Brained lawyer-turned-mediator, caregiver & free spirit. (Read Studs Turkel's book, "Working", & wanted to do it all.) (And see it all: I'm quite well-travelled. Indonesia's my favorite.) Berkeley & Mill Valley have been influential, but Hilo's been heaven (or nirvana).

On the Myers-Briggs test I'm an ENFP/INFP (The Journalist/Idealist): borderline extrovert/introvert, intuitive, feeling, perceiving. If this tool had been devised earlier you can be sure I would've steered clear of that adversarial career ... How about you??

First and foremost we're friends who relish each other's company.
Love reading together (maybe writing together as well), film, travel, art, cultural explorations, museums & galleries, the outdoors (hiking, swimming, snorkeling with the local sea turtles). Enjoy Scrabble & crosswords (done w/ a pencil). Bantering, brainstorming & laughter.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing the next chapter.
Learning new things.
Trying to leave the world a better place.
Seeking a partner willing to join me at least part time in Paradise.
I’m really good at
Exploration. Improvising & spontaneity. Affirming people & life.
The first things people usually notice about me
My subtlety.
Enthusiasm, sensitivity & sense of fun.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Magazines: New Yorker, Psychology Today, Newsweek & Time & more

Books: Mostly non-fiction, w/ crossovers like Lamott & Kingsolver.
I've made pilgrimages to the homes of Victor Hugo (twice!), Shaw,
Yeats, Joyce, O'Neill & more. Appreciate wordsmiths - & humorists like DeVries, Keillor and Barry.

Movies: Classics & comedies: A Fish Named Wanda, GWTW, Waking
Ned Devine, North by Northwest, What About Bob?, My Cousin Vinnie, Lawrence of Arabia, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Stalag 17, Music Man, March of the Wooden Soldiers, & possibly something from this century.

TV: Mad Men, Masterpiece Theatre/Mystery, The Newshour, Meet the Press, Colbert Report (My heart's currently on loan to Stephen.)

Music: classical (flutes & French horns) to celtic, folk music, hits from the '20s thru the '70s, Sinatra & Willie Nelson for phrasing & feeling,
Al Green, Glen Yarbrough & most of the usual suspects.

Food: Thai has to be my favorite, but I love it ALL.
Usually eat quite healthily (strictly dark chocolate!)
The six things I could never do without
friends & family
libraries & books
NPR & PBS
Nature ... especially fresh air, tall trees & fish to snorkel with
Oxytocin & Affection
Ampersands, apparently
I spend a lot of time thinking about
life's mysteries & paradoxes, communication, real estate, the election,
the environment, the people I love
On a typical Friday night I am
Tuned in to the political shows on PBS ... or catching an author at
Book Passage
