My self-summary

Note: I will be without regular internet access until November. If you want to both contact and impress me, you can send me a letter addressed to:

Chris Freeman
PO Box 149
Walpole, NH 03608

Be sure to include a return address if you want a response.

Hey, I'm Chris! I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to woo you with my prose, so here goes...

The first thing you should know is that I regret that we are meeting in this way... you know, online. I value connecting with other people in meaningful ways, and frankly I find this medium to be pretty impersonal. To me, one handwritten letter from a friend or a lover is more affirming than a hundred likes on a Facebook status. I suppose that makes me a bit of an old soul -- but hey, someone's gotta keep the sauerkraut industry going. Besides, y'all can keep your fancy smart phones; I'm happy with my fountain pens and my friendly neighborhood pony express courier, Clarence.

I'm an ENTJ if that matters to you (and even if it doesn't!). Swallow that cum grano salis, though. People tell me that I'm a warm and friendly person, which is more than can be said for some ENTJs -- Hillary Clinton, I'm looking at you! You, too, Sauron.

As you may have already guessed, or will discover should you chance upon my Helga G Pataky-esque shrines to Friedman and Hayek ...

Interests: Hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, sailing, photography, cooking, fine dining, natural living, politics, religion, philosophy, reading, writing.
What I’m doing with my life
Working on my goals. I plan to live forever or die trying.
I’m really good at
-Making chocolate-Kahlua cheesecakes
-Sneezing extraordinarily loudly
-Conversation. As long as you give me something to work with.
-Writing letters by hand (why doesn't anyone do this anymore?)
-Comparing sex to ice cream (press on, fearless reader)
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, I've been practicing my ninja skills, so a better question would be "What's the last thing people notice about you?"

Answer: Still nothing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have too many favorites, so let's go with most recent:

-No Treason by Lysander Spooner
-Animal Farm by George Orwell
-The White Castle by Orhan Pamuk
-The Red and The Black by Stendhal
-Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
-Candide by Voltaire
-Proposed Roads to Freedom by Bertrand Russell
-Satyricon by Petronius
-We Took to the Woods by Louise Dickinson Rich

Currently reading: On Anarchism by Noam Chomsky

Movies and Shows
I enjoy films that address the darker, more tumultuous aspects of society and the human psyche. Inception, The Black Swan, Pan's Labyrinth, and Silence of the Lambs spring to mind.

Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Suits.

Everything from Aine Minogue (celtic harp) to Ellis Paul (folk) to Metallica (metal... duh). I really like Poets of the Fall, Florence + The Machine, and Tool/A Perfect Circle (to name but a few).

Current Favorite Song: Paradise Lost by Symphony X

I'm an adventurous eater. I also keep a pretty healthy diet that consists of a lot of fresh, local (when possible) food.
The six things I could never do without
-Family and Friends
-Physical activity
-Raw milk
-The sound that sleeping cats make when you pet them
-Words, especially when separated by oxford commas
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-Fiscal, agricultural, and environmental policy
-The relationships between people and their food
-The impacts that technology has conferred upon society
-The solipsistic limitations of reason (and whether they matter)
-Objectively terrible puns, like: Kim Jong-un has no Seoul.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Vanilla can be kinda boring. That's why it's called vanilla. I like to mix things up a bit. Maybe some Rocky Road, or Banana Bondage Bonanza. Not into double-fudge, triple-scoops, or strawberry, though, if you catch my drift...
