My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm at a point in my life where I'm fairly happy where I am and where I'm going. I don't have it all worked out, and I'm okay with that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I split time between Austin and New York City. I have a job that I love working with people that I like, which is really pretty awesome, especially considering the alternatives. Most of the time I work from my house (or a coffee shop. Or a bar. Or... wherever, really), and I'm really happy with the freedom that I get from that. The dichotomy of spending substantial time in two very different cities is something that I appreciate a lot more than I thought that I would have.

I'm finally tackling a number of things that I've always wanted to do and kept procrastinating on, which includes more traveling, more cooking, and more time out of my comfort zone.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
playing piano, cooking, navigating without a GPS, word games, being a smart-ass
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Favorite authors include Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, David Sedaris, and Roald Dahl. More recently, I really enjoyed The Night Circus and Warm Bodies, and the Wool series.

I read a lot of random fiction and non-fiction that I just happen to pick up here and there. I'll grab random books from authors that I heard interviews with on the Daily Show or on NPR. Lately, it's been more of a challenge to find time to read for pleasure without passing out, sadly.

I enjoy a wide variety of movies, but these are the ones that will get viewed more frequently at 1am, so you may notice a lack of profundity here - Spirited Away, The Princess Bride, Dazed and Confused, The Big Lebowski, The Royal Tenenbaums, A Fish Called Wanda, Soapdish, Life of Brian, LA Story, Firefly/Serenity, Office Space, Idiocracy, Hot Fuzz

Shows that I watch tend to be ones that I can stream on Netflix, or, alternatively, have people give to me to watch, but favorites are any of Ricky Gervais' series (The Office, Extras), Archer, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, Community, Parks and Rec. I waited until after Breaking Bad was totally over to start watching it.

This is by no means exhaustive, or even necessarily the top favorites; I like a lot of different kinds of music across the spectrum, but this is at least a taste randomly plucked out of playlists - Okkervil River, Spoon, TMBG, Neko Case, Pink Floyd, Muse, Monte Montgomery, The Beatles, Mumford and Sons, The Art of Noise, Radiohead, Willie Nelson, Bright Eyes, Cake, Dire Straits, Johnny Cash, The Gourds, Led Zeppelin, Norah Jones, Nine Inch Nails, The Violent Femmes, Pink Martini, U2, Paul Simon. I'd be really interested in someone who was able to expand my musical horizons in interesting ways. Pandora is really helpful in this regard, but it really doesn't have the passion of someone saying, "Dude! You have to listen to this!!!"

I just really like good food, good wine, and good beer of all types, and love trying new things (and places!)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
☃ friends and family
☃ a good thunderstorm
☃ books
☃ natural light
☃ social, intellectual, and physical stimulation

I'd like to put "enough sleep" on this list, but it seems that I actually *can* live without it. But that doesn't mean I like it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Like everyone else, I am a unique snowflake and don't have a typical Friday night. I may be meeting up with friends to satisfy whatever wild-ass idea one of us has come up with, reading on the couch, or out of town, depending.

Of course, the same could be said of pretty much any other night, really.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This isn't private, but I'm going to use this box for whatever I want to write. You can't tell me what to do, box!

I listen to NPR a lot more than I watch TV (particularly RadioLab, Ask Me Another, which I was on and brain farted the final round, and TAL); pretty much the only TV I watch regularly is the Daily Show and Last Week Tonight.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to go biking, need someone for bar trivia, or want to grab drinks.

If you need someone to help hide the body, that probably should wait until at least the second or third date.
