My Self-Summary

Hi. I'm Mike. I'm an extremely active person and when I'm not working, I'm constantly doing some sort of sport, whether it's surfing, skiing, cycling, or running. I love being fit and healthy, and if you work out, you get a bunch of bonus points. :) And if I'm not doing any of that or sleeping, you can probably find me reading a good book.

What I’m doing with my life

I graduated from Cal State Northridge in '08 with a Finance degree and I work in a Finance division at a major motion picture studio. I'm also studying to take the CPA exam and then apply for an MBA program.

I was recently forced by injuries into retirement from a very successful 12 year competitive running career during which I was captain of 3 different teams, ran almost every single distance running event in track and cross country, made a valiant effort to break 4:00 in the mile (and almost did it), and won several championships. I started cycling for a while, and enjoyed it for a while, but I've recently made major strides towards reviving my running career. I love to push the limits of the human body and the human heart. It's an amazing feeling. I'm planning on doing Olympic distance triathlons (and one day, an Ironman) starting next year.

I’m really good at

Sports.. and stuff. And math. And anything else you'd like me to be good at. But mainly, sports. And math.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm not a douchebag. Hahaha.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Book - "It's Not About the Bike" by Lance Armstrong, and "Exodus" by Leon Uris
Movie - Most amazing movie I've ever seen: Everything is Illuminated
Music - I listen to just about anything. I can go through phases. But I can't stand whiny, 3-chord bands like Owl City. It's not music, damnit.
Food - Sushi

The six things I could never do without

1. Family (isn't this the obligatory #1?)
2. Friends (isn't this the obligatory #2? lol)
3. Blackberry
4. Running shoes
5. Paycheck
6. My car.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to better myself in every way: physical, mental, and emotional. I know that sounds typical, but I'm fully aware that I'm not perfect and I'm aware of any shortcomings that I may have. And I strive to strengthen that part of my life.

On a typical Friday night I am

Depends on what everyone else is doing? I may be at a bar, or at the gym, or at a party... or I may be relaxing with a good book. It really depends. It's not atypical of me to just dedicate an entire weekend to cycling and so I just rest up in the evenings to be able to get up at dawn to jump in the saddle.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

The tattoo on my shoulder has a Nike swoosh in the middle of it. And I have an AWESOME farmer tan thanks to my cycling jerseys. :)

You should message me if

You feel like we'd get along, I guess. I'm not a creeper, I swear.
